Agata Oleksiak (born 5 April 1978), known as Olek, is a Polish artist who is based in New York City. Their works include sculptures, installations such as crocheted bicycles, inflatables, performance pieces, and fiber art. They have covered buildings, sculptures, people, and an apartment with crochet and have exhibited in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Brazil, Turkey, France, Italy, Poland, and Costa Rica. Early life and career Olek graduated with a degree in Cultural Studies from Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, Poland, in 2000. They then attended LaGuardia College, where they won the National Arts Club's award for sculpture. Their early work included sculptures, costumes, and inflatables. Olek first used crocheting as part of their art in 2003 after moving to the United States. They "wowed critics" at the Williamsburg Arts and Historical Society Surrealist Fashion Show that year. Alfred Tomasz Olek (23 July 1940 – 10 March 2007), was a Polish footballer, who played for Górnik Zabrze, Scottish club Hamilton Academical Hamilton Academical Football Club, often known as Hamilton Accies, or The Accies, is a Scottish association football, football club from Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, Hamilton, South Lanarkshire who currently compete in the Scottish Championshi ... and once for the Poland national team. Olek was one of three Polish international players who moved to Hamilton in 1971, the others being Roman Strzałkowski and goalkeeper Witold Szygula. Olek Czyż
Aleksander "Olek" Czyż is a Polish professional basketball player. He has also represented the Polish national team. Early years and college Czyż grew up playing basketball in Poland. He first started playing when he was 10 years old for a club team called Prokom Trefl Gdynia. At the age of 14, he moved with his mother and sister to the United States and attended Reno High School, in Reno, Nevada where he was a two-time state champion. He received scholarship offers to attend colleges around the country going into his senior year at Reno High School. Throughout his collegiate freshman, and half of his sophomore basketball season, Olek played for Duke University in North Carolina.
