Ole Vollan
Ole Christiansen Vollan (27 July 1837 – 19 April 1907) was a Norwegian educator, editor, and politician for the Moderate Liberal Party. He was born in Austad. He finished his secondary education in 1856, and graduated with the cand.theol. degree in 1861. He started his professional life as a teacher in Bergen, Hammerfest and Ringerike. In 1867 he was hired as a sexton in Bergen, and served as acting school director between 1868 and 1871. In 1877 he founded the magazine ''Ny Luthersk Kirketidende'' together with Jakob Sverdrup; Vollan sat as co-editor from 1877 to 1881. Moderate Liberal Party
The Moderate Liberal Party ( no, Moderate Venstre, literally "Moderate Left") was a political party in Norway that emerged from the moderate and religious branches of the Liberal Party in 1888. The party's turn towards cooperation with the Conservative Party caused a party split in 1891, eventually sharpening its profile as a moderate-conservative party based among the low church of south-western Norway. The party was dissolved shortly after the dissolution of the union with Sweden in 1905. Nordahl Grieg
Johan Nordahl Brun Grieg (1 November 1902 – 2 December 1943) was a Norwegian poet, novelist, dramatist, journalist and political activist. He was a popular author and a controversial public figure. He served in World War II as a war correspondent and was killed while on a bombing mission to Berlin. Background Nordahl Grieg was born in Bergen, Norway. He was the son of Peter Lexau Grieg (1864–1924) and Helga Vollan (1869–1946). He was the brother of Norwegian publisher Harald Grieg (1894–1972) and was distantly related to composer Edvard Grieg. In 1940, he married actress Gerd Egede-Nissen (1895–1988). He studied at the Royal Frederick University (now the University of Oslo) and spent time travelling abroad, sometimes as a tourist and sometimes as a sailor. Receiving the 1924 Norway Scholarship, Grieg spent a year at Wadham College at Oxford, England, studying history and literature. Harald Grieg
Harald Grieg (3 August 1894 – 6 October 1972) was a Norwegian publisher. He was director of Gyldendal Norsk Forlag and for many years was a leading figure in the Norwegian book industry. Biography Grieg was born in Bergen, Norway. He was the son of Peter Lexau Grieg (1864–1924) and Helga Vollan (1869–1946). His brother Nordahl Grieg was a writer and an active member of the Norwegian Armed Forces in exile during the Second World War. After graduation of artium at the Bergen Cathedral School in 1912, he traveled to Kristiania (now Oslo) to continue his studies. He became cand.philol. at the University of Kristiania in 1917. The Storting ( no, Stortinget ) (lit. the Great Thing) is the supreme legislature of Norway, established in 1814 by the Constitution of Norway. It is located in Oslo.
