Ole Christian Saxtorph Sonne
Ole Christian Saxtorph Sonne (21 April 1859 – 25 July 1941) was a Danish government minister and speaker of the Landsting, a chamber of the parliament. He was an elected member of the Landsting from the 1902 election until 1918. He was originally elected outside the parties in electoral coalition with the conservative party Højre, but joined the Free Conservatives in February 1904. Along with the rest of the Free Conservatives, Sonne joined the Conservative People's Party in 1915, but he left the party again in June 1917 as a protest against the party's intention of pulling Minister without Portfolio Christian Rotbøll out of the Cabinet of Zahle II. Landsting (Denmark)
Landstinget was the upper house of the Rigsdag (the parliament of Denmark), from 1849 until 1953, when the bicameral system was abolished in favour of unicameralism. Landstinget had powers equal to the Folketing, which made the two houses of parliament hard to distinguish. Originally, membership and the electorate was restricted, and the members were largely conservatives. Membership of the house was then restricted to certain sectors of society: only males with a certain net worth could hold a seat. In 1915, these restrictions were removed, and a few new members were appointed by the existing members. Etymology and earlier use (old Norse: þing) means assembly. Thomas Madsen-Mygdal
Thomas Madsen-Mygdal (24 December 1876 – 23 February 1943) was a Danish politician from Venstre who served as Prime Minister of Denmark from 1926 to 1929. He was also Minister for Agriculture from 1920 to 1924 and again while concurrently being prime minister. Early life and education Madsen-Mygdal was born in Mygdal, Vendsyssel, the son of landstingsmand, statsrevisor N.P. Madsen-Mygdal (1835-1913) and Ane Kirstine Jacobsen (1839–1902). He became a teacher from Jelling Seminarium but later studied agriculture. Political career Thomas Madsen-Mygdal was a self-taught farmer, and was also Minister of Agriculture while he was Prime Minister, as he had also been in the Cabinet of Neergaard. The Easter Crisis ( da, Påskekrisen) was a constitutional crisis in Denmark around Easter in 1920. It was a significant event in the development of constitutional monarchy in Denmark. It began with the dismissal of the elected government by the reigning monarch, King Christian X, a reserve power which was granted to him by the Danish constitution, because he thought that the government did not try to reclaim enough land from Germany in Schleswig. After protests, the King agreed to install a caretaker government who could hold a general election, and no Danish monarch has since interfered in politics. Rigsdagen () was the name of the national legislature of Denmark from 1849 to 1953. ''Rigsdagen'' was Denmark's first parliament, and it was incorporated in the Constitution of 1849. It was a bicameral legislature, consisting of two houses, the ''Folketing'' and the '' Landsting''. The distinction between the two houses was not always clear, as they had equal power. In 1953, a new constitution was approved by referendum and adopted, with the result that ''Rigsdagen'' and the ''Landsting'' were eliminated in favor of a unicameral legislature under the name of the ''Folketing''. ''Rigsdagen'', like today's ''Folketing'', was located in Christiansborg Palace in the centre of Copenhagen.
