Old Town (song)
"Old Town" is a song released by Thin Lizzy frontman Philip Lynott from his 1982 self-titled solo album, '' The Philip Lynott Album;'' its lyrics detail the end of a romance. In the music video, Lynott can be seen on the Ha'penny Bridge in Dublin, as well as several other locations around the city centre. The song includes the piano playing of Darren Wharton, the keyboard player from Thin Lizzy. "Old Town" was the first record to be officially played on Irish legal Independent Radio. It was the first song played by Dublin's Capital Radio 104.4 on its launch on 20 July 1989. Phil Lynott
Philip Parris Lynott (, ; 20 August 1949 – 4 January 1986) was an Irish singer, bassist, and songwriter. His most commercially successful group was Thin Lizzy, of which he was a founding member, the principal songwriter, lead vocalist and bassist. He was known for his distinctive plectrum-based style on the bass, and for his imaginative lyrical contributions including working class tales and numerous characters drawn from personal influences and Celtic culture. Lynott was born in the West Midlands of England, but grew up in Dublin with his grandparents. He remained close to his mother, Philomena, throughout his life. He fronted several bands as a lead vocalist, including Skid Row alongside Gary Moore, before learning the bass guitar and forming Thin Lizzy in 1969. ''Home'' is the fifth studio album by Irish band the Corrs. An Irish-themed album, it includes covers of old Irish songs and traditionals, but also covers of non-Irish songs such as "Heart Like a Wheel". It includes two tracks in Irish, "Buachaill Ón Éirne" and "Bríd Óg Ní Mháille"; and three instrumentals, "Old Hag (You Killed Me)", "Haste to the Wedding", and the bonus track "Return to Fingall". Mitchell Froom (born June 29, 1953) is an American musician and record producer. He was a member of the bands Gamma (band), Gamma and Latin Playboys, and is currently the keyboardist for Crowded House. He has produced albums for several artists, including Richard Thompson (musician), Richard Thompson, Los Lobos, Suzanne Vega, and Vonda Shepard. Career Froom began his career as a keyboard player in Sonoma County, California. The band Crossfire featured two keyboard players; Mitchell on one side of the stage and brother David on the other with Gary Pihl on guitar. 143 Records was the record label of producer David Foster. 143 was a sub-label of Warner Records and Atlantic Records. The numbers 1-4-3 are derived from the words "I (1 letter) love (4 letters) you (3 letters)." History When record producer David Foster signed a deal with Warner Bros. in 1995, it enabled him to start 143 Records. Foster gave the responsibility for running the label to manager Brian Avnet.
