''The Old Mill'' is a 1937 ''Silly Symphonies'' cartoon produced by Walt Disney Productions, directed by Wilfred Jackson, scored by Leigh Harline, and released theatrically to theatres by RKO Radio Pictures on November 5, 1937. The film depicts the natural community of animals populating an old abandoned windmill in the country, and how they deal with a severe summer thunderstorm that nearly destroys their habitat. It incorporates the song "One Day When We Were Young" from Johann Strauss II's operetta ''The Gypsy Baron''. ''The Old Mill'' was the first ''Silly Symphony'' cartoon to be released by RKO and was added a new ''Silly Symphony'' logo, some new titles, and a burlap background which was used for several other Disney theatrical cartoon series like ''Donald Duck'', ''Goofy'', ''Mickey Mouse'', and ''Pluto the Pup''. Pigeon Forge Mill
The Pigeon Forge Mill, commonly called the Old Mill, is a historic gristmill in the U.S. city of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Located along the West Fork of the Little Pigeon River, the mill complex currently consists of a millhouse, breastshot wheel, and milldam, all of which are operative. The mill is the only structure in Pigeon Forge listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Now a souvenir shop and restaurant, the Pigeon Forge Mill was once part of a small industrial complex established by local businessman Isaac Love (1783–1854) that included the iron forge for which the city was named. The mill was initially used to grind grain— mainly corn, wheat, and oats— for local farmers. During the U.S. Civil War (1861–1865), the mill powered several looms which produced cloth for the military. The Crystal Mill, or the Old Mill is an 1892 wooden powerhouse located on an outcrop above the Crystal River in Crystal, Colorado, United States. It is accessible from Marble, Colorado via four-wheel drive. Although called a Watermill, it is more correctly denoted as a compressor station, which used a water turbine to drive an air compressor, and was originally built with a horizontal wheel. The Calvert Mill/Washington Mill, also known as the Old Mill, is an historic water-powered grinding mill located on Old Mill Road in Washington, Virginia. Its water source is the Rush River. The Calvert name comes from George Calvert, Jr., a local landowner, who owned it from 1779 to 1800. The oldest part of the present mill dates from this period. Later additions were made in 1840 and 1860. It was bought in 1979 by Peter Kramer, who planned to restore it. As of 2008, though, it stood unused and in disrepair. El Molino Viejo, also known as The Old Mill, is a former grist mill in the San Rafael Hills of present-day San Marino, California, United States, and was built in 1816 by Father José María de Zalvidea from the Mission San Gabriel Arcángel (San Gabriel Mission).
