Alan Dawson (soccer)
Alan Dawson (July 14, 1929 – February 23, 1996) was an American jazz drummer and percussion teacher based in Boston. Biography Dawson was born in Marietta, Pennsylvania and raised in Roxbury, Massachusetts. Serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he played with the Army Dance Band while stationed at Fort Dix from 1951 to 1953. During his tenure, Dawson explored the post-bop era by performing with pianist Sabby Lewis. After being discharged from the army, Dawson toured Europe with Lionel Hampton. In early 1960, he was based in Boston for a regular engagement with John Neves, bass, and Leroy Flander, piano.Down Beat, 1960/03/31 issue Dawson was an early teacher of drummers Tony Williams and Joseph Smyth, known for his work with the Sawyer Brown country music group. Old Dominion Soccer Complex
The Old Dominion Soccer Complex is a soccer-specific stadium located on the campus of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, USA. The 4,000-seat stadium is home to the Old Dominion Monarchs soccer teams. The Monarchs compete in the Sun Belt Conference. The stadium is also the host of the annual Stihl/ODU Soccer Classic. The stadium opened in 1990 replacing the university's football stadium, Foreman Field, as the home of Old Dominion soccer. The opening game was a 1–1 tie against the College of William and Mary with 3200 fans in attendance. Between the 2002 and 2005 seasons, the Monarchs men's soccer team had a 32 match regular season unbeaten streak at the complex. The Old Dominion Monarchs are composed of 18 intercollegiate athletic teams representing Old Dominion University, located in Norfolk, Virginia. Men's sports include baseball, basketball, football, golf, sailing, soccer, swimming, and tennis. Women's sports include basketball, field hockey, lacrosse, golf, sailing, soccer, swimming, tennis, rowing, and volleyball. Conference USA (C-USA or CUSA) is an intercollegiate athletic conference whose current member institutions are located within the Southern United States. The conference participates in the NCAA's Division I in all sports. C-USA's offices are located in Dallas, Texas. History C-USA was founded in 1995 by the merger of the Metro Conference and Great Midwest Conference, two Division I conferences that did not sponsor football. However, the merger did not include either Great Midwest member Dayton or Metro members VCU and Virginia Tech. Mike Berticelli
Mike Berticelli (April 26, 1951 – January 25, 2000) as an American college soccer coach. From 1990 to 1999, he served as the head men's soccer coach at the University of Notre Dame, where he compiled a 104–80–19(.559) record. He led the Fighting Irish to tournament appearances in 1993, 1994, and 1996. Notre Dame won two Midwestern Collegiate Conference championships and 1 Big East Tournament Coach of the Year title. He died on January 25, 2000, at the age of 48. He ended his career with a record of 291–135–42. From 1984 to 1989, he was the head men's soccer coach at Old Dominion University, where he posted a 76–27–16 record in six seasons. Colonial Athletic Association
The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with the NCAA's Division I whose full members are located in East Coast states from Massachusetts to South Carolina. Most of its members are public universities, and the conference is headquartered in Richmond. The CAA was historically a Southern conference until the addition of four schools in the Northeast (of five that joined from rival conference America East) after the turn of the 21st century, which added geographic balance to the conference. The CAA was founded in 1979 as the ECAC South basketball league.
