Old Castle Swifts F.C.
Old Castle Swifts Football Club, the first professional football club in Essex, was formed by Scottish shipowner Donald Currie in September 1892 as Castle Swifts Football Club. The club's first home ground, located in West Ham, was named Dunottar Park, after the Castle Line company's ship ''Dunottar Castle''. In 1894, Old Castle Swifts merged with Old St Luke's and was renamed. The club was wound up the following season. Its demise saw several players join the newly founded Thames Ironworks, the club that was later reformed as West Ham United. Orange County Science Fiction Club
The Orange County Science Fiction Club (OCSFC), founded in 1982, is a public club which meets in Orange County, California, and is one of the oldest continuing science fiction and fantasy organizations in Orange County. Membership is open to anyone in the community and includes published authors and actors. The club has also helped organize book signing events of well-known authors and has assisted in organizing local science fiction conventions. Meetings Meeting topics include general news and information by members about science or science fiction/fantasy conventions, lectures, films and other genre related event. Boleyn Ground
Boleyn Ground, often referred to as Upton Park, was a football stadium in Upton Park, London, Upton Park, east London, England. It was the home of West Ham United F.C., West Ham United from 1904 to 2016, and was briefly used by Charlton Athletic F.C., Charlton Athletic in the early 1990s during their years of financial difficulty. Jamie Lindsay (footballer, Born 1870)
James Lindsay (born ) was a footballer who played at inside-forward or centre-forward. Lindsay played for East Ham side Anchor and turned out for Millwall during 1893–94. He played for Old Castle Swifts until 1895, before transferring to the newly formed Thames Ironworks for the 1895–96 season. He played in a number of games for the club, probably including their first ever fixture against Royal Ordnance. John Thomas Archer Wood ( – 1954) was an English footballer who played right wing for Old Castle Swifts before joining Thames Ironworks, the team that became West Ham United, in their very first season of 1895–96. Arnold Hills
Arnold Frank Hills (12 March 1857 – 7 March 1927) was an English businessman, sportsman, philanthropist, and activist. He notably made an appearance for the England national football team in 1879. Hills was an advocate for temperance and vegetarianism, serving as president of the London Vegetarian Society and Vegetarian Federal Union. Biography Early life Hills was born in Denmark Hill, Surrey, the son of a manufacturing chemist. Sports career Arnold Hills was also a keen sportsman, who was the British mile champion, winning the 1878 AAC Championships title and the three-mile champion in 1879.
