Olav Holt
Olav Holt (born 7 January 1935) is a Norwegian physicist. Holt was born in Hedrum, and took his dr.philos. degree in 1963. Holt is a specialist in the upper atmosphere physics and radio wave propagation in the ionosphere. Later, Holt was hired as professor at the University of Tromsø in 1969, where he served as rector from 1973 to 1977. He is a fellow of the Norwegian Academy of Technological Sciences. Hedrum
Hedrum is a parish and the site of a historic church in Vestfold county, Norway. Hedrum was annexed by Larvik on January 1, 1988. History The parish of Hedrum was established as a municipality on January 1, 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). Small parts of Hedrum were transferred to the city of Larvik in 1855, 1875, 1937 and 1948. Border adjustments between Hedrum and the neighboring municipalities Andebu, Tjølling and Siljan also took place. Hedrum was incorporated into the enlarged Larvik municipality on January 1, 1988. Before the merger Hedrum had a population of 10,449. Hedrum located in Lågendalen, the lower part of the valley that follows the river Numedalslågen. The valley is relatively flat, dominated by agricultural areas, valleys are wooded hills and go over the mountain peaks up to 500 meters. A rector (Latin for 'ruler') is a senior official in an educational institution, and can refer to an official in either a university or a secondary school. Anne Holt
Anne Holt (born 16 November 1958) is a Norwegian author, lawyer and former Minister of Justice. Early life She was born in Larvik, grew up in Lillestrøm and Tromsø, and moved to Oslo in 1978. Holt graduated with a law degree from the University of Bergen in 1986, and worked for The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) in the period 1984 to 1988. Career She then worked at the Oslo Police Department for two years, earning her right to practice as a lawyer in Norway. In 1990 she returned to NRK, where she worked one year as a journalist and anchor woman for the news program ''Dagsrevyen''. Anne Holt started her own law practice in 1994, and served as the Minister of Justice in Cabinet Jagland for a short period from 25 October 1996 to 4 February 1997. She resigned for health reasons, and was replaced by Gerd-Liv Valla. Yngvar Løchen (31 May 1931 – 28 July 1998) was a Norwegian sociologist. He took his dr.philos. in 1965 and was hired as associate professor of community medicine at the University of Oslo the same year. In 1971 he was appointed professor in the sociology of medicine at the University of Tromsø. He served as chancellor from 1977 to 1981.
