Olaf Kronstad
Olaf Kronstad (born Olav Hansen, December 2, 1892 – July 14, 1939) was a Norwegian stage and film actor. Life Olaf Kronstad was born Olaf Hansen in Årstad, the son of the tanner Ludvig Hansen (later Øvrebø) and his wife Johanne. Kronstad married the actress Botten Soot in 1924. He married the Red Cross nurse Gunvor Tønseth (1907–1983) in 1939. Career Kronstad made his stage debut in 1918 in the cabaret production ''Chat Noir i Bergen''. He appeared as Touffleux in René Mercier's operetta ''Bejnamin'' at the Mayol Theater in 1925. He also performed at the Chat Noir cabaret and revue theater and at the New Theater in Oslo. Årstad, Bergen
Årstad is a borough in the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. Historically, the area was a separate municipality called Årstad until 1916 when it was merged into the city of Bergen. The borough has similar (but not the same) boundaries to those of the old municipality. The borough is located south of the city centre, and has a population of around 39,906 as of 1 January 2014. Årstad is home to Bergen's hospital, Haukeland University Hospital, as well as Norway's second largest vocational high school, Årstad videregående skole (the largest being Sandefjord videregående skole), and Brann Stadion, the stadium of the city's largest association football team, Brann. Botten Soot
Botten Soot (born Ingeborg Bergit Soot; 22 March 1895 – 21 May 1958) was a Norwegian actress, singer, and dancer. Her primary venue was the cabaret and revue theatre Chat Noir, where she performed for most of her career. Early and personal life Born in Bergen, Soot was the daughter of the painter Eyolf Soot (1859–1928) and children's theatre pioneer Inga Bjørnson (1871–1952). Her parents divorced in 1900; her mother married the actor Harald Stormoen when Botten was five years old, and Botten Soot was thus a half-sister of the actress Guri Stormoen. She also gave birth to a child, the actor Svend von Düring. She learned ballet as a child and was a student at Thora Hals Olsen ballet school; later she studied singing with Bergljot Ibsen, Wilhelm Cappelen Kloed and Raimund von zur-Mühlen, and harmony with Carsten Carlsen. René Mercier (end of the 19th century – 1 January 1973) was a 20th-century French composer and conductor. Biography Little is known about the life of René Mercier. Even his birth date is unknown. Composer of second rank, he is best known as a conductor. Chat Noir ( French for 'black cat') is a cabaret and revue theatre in Oslo, Norway. It was established in 1912 by Bokken Lasson. The current director is Tom Sterri. Establishment Chat Noir was established as a cabaret in 1912 by singer Bokken Lasson and her later husband, writer Vilhelm Dybwad, modelled after the Paris cabaret Le Chat Noir from the 19th century. During a visit to Paris in the early 1890s Bokken Lasson had found the inspiration of her life. She experienced the literary cabarets of the time, and performers such as Yvette Guilbert. The next years she toured European cities, wearing a self-composed costume, singing gypsy songs and playing lute, performing on the street, at restaurants, cabarets and occasionally in musical comedies. Oslo Nye Teater is a theater located in Oslo, Norway. The theater has its main stage in its own theater house at Rosenkrantz' gate 10. It is one of Norway's most visited theatres.
