Olaf Fjalstad
Olaf Fjalstad (2 April 188822 February 1971) was a Norwegian jurist and politician. He was born in Bamble; a son of priest John Fjalstad. He was a member of the Storting from 1928 to 1945. Bamble
Bamble is a municipality in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Grenland. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Langesund. General information Name The Old Norse form of the name was ''Bamblar'' (a plural form). The name could be related to the word ''bembel'' m 'belly' (used in the meaning 'round hill/mountain'). The name was written "Bamle" in the period 1889–1917. See also the name Bømlo. Coat-of-arms The coat-of-arms is from modern times. They were granted on 12 December 1986. The arms show a gold-colored ship's wheel on a blue background. The arms are nearly identical to the former arms of Stathelle, which along with Langesund was merged with the municipality of Bamble on 1 January 1964. Sailing and fishing have always been of great importance for the area, and a ship's wheel was thus an appropriate symbol. ''Hvem er hvem?'' ( en, Who is Who?) was a Norwegian book series, presenting facts about notable persons from Norway. The first edition was issued in 1912, and the 14th edition came in 1994. Storting
The Storting ( no, Stortinget ) (lit. the Great Thing) is the supreme legislature of Norway, established in 1814 by the Constitution of Norway. It is located in Oslo. The unicameral parliament has 169 members and is elected every four years based on party-list proportional representation in nineteen multi-seat constituencies. A member of Stortinget is known in Norwegian as a ''stortingsrepresentant'', literally "Storting representative". The assembly is led by a president and, since 2009, five vice presidents: the presidium. The members are allocated to twelve standing committees as well as four procedural committees. Nedenes (judicial District)
Nedenes District Court ( no, Nedenes tingrett) was a district court in Aust-Agder county, Norway. The court was based in the town of Arendal. The court existed from 1852 until 2004. It had jurisdiction over the municipalities of Arendal, Froland and Åmli. Cases from this court could be appealed to Agder Court of Appeal. The court was a court of first instance. Its judicial duties were mainly to settle criminal cases and to resolve civil litigation as well as bankruptcy. The administration and registration tasks of the court included death registration, issuing certain certificates, performing duties of a notary public, and officiating civil wedding ceremonies. Fredrik Vogt
Fredrik Vogt (23 December 189226 January 1970) was a Norwegian engineer and civil servant. In the 1930s he was a professor and rector at the Norwegian Institute of Technology (Norwegian abbreviation NTH). As the first director general of the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate, Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Agency, he played a central role in developing the hydroelectric power capacity in Norway after the Second World War. Personal life Vogt was born in Oslo, Kristiania; a son of professor of metallurgy and geology Johan Herman Lie Vogt and Martha Johanne Abigael Kinck. He was a brother of geologist Thorolf Vogt, economist Johan Vogt and newspaper editor and politician Jørgen Vogt. In 1916 he married Signe Fjalstad, a sister of jurist and politician Olaf Fjalstad.
