Oklahoma State Highway 128
State Highway 128 (abbreviated SH-128) is a state highway in Le Flore County, Oklahoma. It connects U.S. Route 59 (US 59) in Heavener to the Arkansas state line, where it becomes Arkansas Highway 28. It has no lettered spur routes. SH-128 was first added to the state highway system circa 1956. It has been realigned once, to better match up with roads across the Arkansas line. Route description State Highway 128 begins at US-59/US-270 in Heavener. From the terminus south of downtown, the highway follows West Avenue I to East 1st Street, where it turns south, running parallel to US-59/US-270. Highway 128 then curves east and exits Heavener. For the remainder of its route, SH-128 runs mostly parallel to a spur from the Kansas City Southern rail line; the road crosses the tracks once, just east of the Heavener city limit. Le Flore County, Oklahoma
LeFlore County is a county along the eastern border of the U.S state of Oklahoma. As of the 2010 census, the population was 50,384. Its county seat is Poteau. The county is part of the Fort Smith metropolitan area and the name honors a Choctaw family named LeFlore. The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma is the federal district court with jurisdiction in LeFlore County. History The Choctaw Nation signed the Treaty of Doak's Stand in 1820, ceding part of their ancestral home in the Southeastern U. S. and receiving a large tract in Indian Territory. Arkansas Highway 28
Highway 28 (AR 28, Ark. 28, and Hwy. 28) is designation for three east–west state highways in Western Arkansas. Two segments together running from the Oklahoma state line to Ola (with a gap along US Highway 71 around Waldron) have been established since the original 1926 Arkansas state highway numbering, with the third segment designated in 1963. U.S. Highway 59 (US-59) heads along the eastern portion of the state of Oklahoma. US-59's route through Oklahoma takes it through the mountainous terrain of the eastern Oklahoma Ouachitas and Ozarks. US-59 serves several lakes and towns through Oklahoma's Green Country, including Grand Lake, a major recreation center. The route enters the state from Arkansas near Fogel, Arkansas, and ends at the Kansas state line south of Chetopa, Kansas. US-59 was first designated in Oklahoma around 1935.
