Oklahoma City Slickers (1993–96)
The Oklahoma City Slickers was the name given to two different American soccer clubs based in Oklahoma City. The first team competed in the second American Soccer League in 1982 and 1983. The second Oklahoma City Slickers competed in the USISL from 1993 to 1996. Jacksonville Tea Men
The Jacksonville Tea Men were a soccer team based in Jacksonville, Florida, United States. Overall, the Tea Men played a total of four seasons in Jacksonville, first in the major league-level North American Soccer League (NASL) from 1980–1982, then in the lower level American Soccer League and United Soccer League from 1982–1984. The NASL incarnation of the club was Jacksonville's first professional soccer team, and the first major league-level sport franchise ever based in the city. The team originated as the New England Tea Men, based in Foxborough, Massachusetts, retaining their Boston Tea Party-themed name after moving to Jacksonville. Fort Lauderdale Sun
Fort Lauderdale Sun was a U.S. soccer team which played two seasons in the United Soccer League. In 1984, the team was known as the Fort Lauderdale Sun. Before the 1985 season they changed their name to the South Florida Sun. Origins The United Soccer League (USL) was formed after the American Soccer League (ASL) folded in 1983. The ASL had served as the de facto U.S. second division for decades, but collapsed due to overexpansion and financial insolvency. The USL intended to avoid this fate by creating a lean, financially responsible league. In 1984, the league began play with nine teams in three regional divisions. Fort Lauderdale joined the Charlotte Gold and Jacksonville Tea Men in the Southern Division. Both of the Sun's opponents had migrated from the ASL to the USL. Thompson Usiyan
Thompson Usiyan (27 April 1956 – 31 August 2021) was a Nigerian professional footballer who played as a forward. He holds the NCAA Division I career scoring record and played in the North American Soccer League, Major Indoor Soccer League, American Soccer League and Continental Indoor Soccer League. He was a member of the Nigerian Olympic soccer team which boycotted the 1976 Olympics. He made several appearances for the Nigeria national team. Youth career In 1976, Usiyan was selected as a member of the Nigerian 1976 Olympic team. Although the team travelled to the Olympics, which were held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, it did not compete as a result of a boycott of the games by African and Arab nations. Dave Kemp
David Michael Kemp (born 20 February 1953) is an English former professional footballer and manager. He is currently assistant manager at Middlesbrough FC. Playing career Kemp began his career with Harrow Borough, subsequently playing for Maidenhead United and Slough Town before joining Crystal Palace in April 1975. He moved to Portsmouth in November 1976 and was their leading goalscorer in both the 1976–77 and 1977–78 seasons, despite not playing a full season for the club. A hugely popular player whilst at the club he even featured in Roy of the Rovers magazine photographed alongside his fictional goalscoring counterpart. Delroy Allen (born 6 October 1958 Montego Bay, Jamaica) is a retired Jamaican-American soccer goalkeeper who played professionally in the North American Soccer League, American Soccer League and United Soccer League. Peter Knezic
Peter Knezic is a retired American soccer player who played professionally in the Major Indoor Soccer League, American Soccer League, United Soccer League and American Indoor Soccer League. He coached at the professional, collegiate and youth soccer level where he is currently the coaching director at Milwaukee Kickers Soccer Club. Youth Knezic grew up in Cudahy, Wisconsin where in 1967 he began playing youth soccer with the Milwaukee Serbians. Tom Alioto
Tom Alioto (born May 20, 1958 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin) is a retired American soccer defender who played in the North American Soccer League, Major Indoor Soccer League and American Indoor Soccer Association. Player Both Tom Alioto and his twin brother Tim both played extensively as youth players with the Milwaukee Bavarians. Alioto also played soccer for Madison University High School. In 1980, Tom signed with the Chicago Sting in the North American Soccer League for the 1980–81 indoor season. In 1982, he moved to the Oklahoma City Slickers in the American Soccer League. In the fall of 1982, Alioto signed with the Kansas City Comets of the Major Indoor Soccer League. Jim Millnder is a retired American soccer player and coach who played professionally in the North American Soccer League and Major Indoor Soccer League, American Soccer League and United Soccer League. He coached collegiate soccer for twenty-nine years. Player Millinder graduated from North Torrance High School. He then played soccer at El Camino College where he was a 1977 Junior College All American. He was inducted into the El Camino Athletic Hall of Fame in 1992. In 1978, he turned professional with the New York Cosmos of the North American Soccer League. He saw no first team games and in 1978, he moved to the Los Angeles Aztecs. He played four games for the Aztecs then was sent to the Tulsa Roughnecks for the 1979–1980 NASL indoor season. Austin Hudson (soccer)
Austin Hudson is an American soccer coach and retired player. He was the head coach of Fort Worth FC of the Women's Premier Soccer League and played professionally in the Major Indoor Soccer League, American Indoor Soccer Association, second American Soccer League and the USISL. He was the 1989 Southwest Indoor Soccer League MVP. Some accounts state Hudson spent 1978 with the Seattle Sounders. If he did, he never signed a professional contract as Hudson entered Belleville Area College in 1979 and played two seasons of college soccer.
