Okinawa Prefectural Railways
was the railway operated by the Okinawa Prefectural Government on Okinawa Island from 1914 to 1945. Locally called the ''Keebin'' (Okinawan pronunciation of ''keiben'', part of ''keiben tetsudō'' or "light railway"), it operated about 48 kilometers of gauge light railway until it was destroyed in the Battle of Okinawa. Lines The railway operated following four 762-mm gauge lines as of April 1, 1943: * Naha – Yonabaru (Yonabaru Line, 9.4 km) * Kohagura – Kadena (Kadena Line, 22.3 km) * Kokuba – Itoman (Itoman Line, 15.0 km) * Naha – Sanbashi Niatsukaisho (Freight Line, 0.9 km) Note: Kohagura and Kokuba were intermediate stations of the Yonabaru Line. Henschel & Son
Henschel & Son (german: Henschel und Sohn) was a German company, located in Kassel, best known during the 20th century as a maker of transportation equipment, including locomotives, trucks, buses and trolleybuses, and armoured fighting vehicles and weapons. Georg Christian Carl Henschel founded the factory in 1810 at Kassel. His son Carl Anton Henschel founded another factory in 1837. In 1848, the company began manufacturing locomotives. The factory became the largest locomotive manufacturer in Germany by the 20th century. Henschel built 10 articulated steam trucks, using Doble steam designs, for Deutsche Reichsbahn railways as delivery trucks. This article is about the history of the Ryukyu Islands southwest of the main islands of Japan. Etymology The name "Ryūkyū" originates from Chinese writings. The earliest references to "Ryūkyū" write the name as 琉虬 and 流求 () in the Chinese history ''Book of Sui'' in 607. It is a descriptive name, meaning "glazed horn-dragon". The origin of the term "Okinawa" remains unclear, although "Okinawa" ( Okinawan: Uchinaa) as a term was used in Okinawa. Ishinomaki Line
The is a railway line in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East). It connects Kogota Station in Misato with Onagawa Station in Onagawa, acting as a spur line from the Tōhoku Main Line to the central coast of Miyagi Prefecture. It connects with the Rikuu East Line and Tōhoku Main Line at Kogota Station, the Kesennuma Line at Maeyachi Station, and the Senseki Line at Ishinomaki Station, both in Ishinomaki, Miyagi.
