Latvian ( ), also known as Lettish, is an Eastern Baltic language belonging to the Baltic branch of the Indo-European language family, spoken in the Baltic region. It is the language of Latvians and the official language of Latvia as well as one of the official languages of the European Union. Ojārs Arvīds Feldbergs
Ojārs Arvīds Feldbergs is a Latvian sculptor. He founded the Pedvāle Open Air Museum in 1992. Biography Ojārs Feldbergs was born in Riga, Latvia. He graduated from the Department of Sculpture at the Latvian Academy of Fine Arts in 1976. The Defense of Riga In January, 1991, four large granite blocks from his studio formed the political artwork "Barricade". This blocked a street in Old Riga, to prevent entry of Soviet tanks. These blocks were later used in 2005 to form the sculpture "Swell". The blocks themselves now rest at the Pedvāle Open Air Art Museum, where they have been used in other patriotic works and displays. Ojārs Grīnbergs
Ojārs Grīnbergs (19 November 1942 – 22 April 2016) was a Soviet and Latvian singer. Biography Ojārs Grīnbergs was born on 19 November 1942 in Riga. Since 1961, he was a soloist with various ensembles in Riga. During his military service in the Soviet Army, he was the founder and lead singer of the vocal and instrumental ensemble ''Zvyozdochka'', which became the winner of the competition of ''"Liepaja Amber"''. He was a member of the Riga variety orchestra (1966–1974). Since 1973, he sang in a duet with Margarita Vilcāne, both performers were soloists in the pop ensemble Latvian State Philharmonic, who bore the title of 1979 ''Tip Top''. He took part in the recording of the Raimonds Pauls studio albums ''Tev, mana labā'' (1969) and ''Tik dzintars vien'' (1970). Ojārs Ēriks Kalniņš
Ojārs Ēriks Kalniņš (22 October 1949 – 14 October 2021) was a Latvian politician and diplomat who served as a member of the Saeima (2010–2021), head of the Latvian Institute (1999–2010), and as Ambassador to the United States (1993–1999). Born in a displaced person's camp in Germany to parents escaping the Soviet occupation of Latvia, he spent his early career working for various Latvian-American organizations before moving to Latvia and taking part in the restoration of Latvian independence. Ojārs Siliņš (born 20 July 1993) is a Latvian professional basketball player for Stal Ostrów Wielkopolski of the Polish Basketball League (PLK). He plays the small forward and power forward positions. Professional career Siliņš made his professional debut aged 16 with hometown team BK Ķeizarmežs during the 2009–10 season, playing in both the Latvian Basketball League and the Baltic Basketball League (6.8 points and 2.2 rebounds per game in the latter). Ojārs Vācietis (born November 13, 1933 — November 28, 1983) was a Latvian writer and poet. He is often considered one of the most famous and influential poets in the Latvian SSR. Biography Ojārs Vācietis was born on November 13, 1933 in Trapene Parish, Latvia. His father Oto Vācietis was a servant. Vācietis studied in Trapane primary school and later in Gaujiena secondary school. 1952 he started Latvian language and literature studies at the University of Latvia. He graduated in 1957. Since 1958 he worked in several Latvian magazines and newspapers (for example: ''Literatūra un Māksla'', ''Liesma'', ''Draugs''). He was also an editor at the Riga Film Studio.
