The Ohio Bobcats baseball team is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, United States. The team is a member of the Mid-American Conference East division, which is part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I. Ohio's first baseball team was fielded in 1892. The team plays its home games at Bob Wren Stadium in Athens, Ohio. The Bobcats are coached by Craig Moore. Mid-American Conference
The Mid-American Conference (MAC) is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I collegiate athletic conference with a membership base in the Great Lakes region that stretches from Western New York to Illinois. Nine of the twelve full member schools are in Ohio and Michigan, with single members located in Illinois, Indiana, and New York. List Of NCAA Division I Baseball Programs
The following is a list of schools that participate in NCAA Division I baseball. In the 2022 season, 301 Division I schools competed. These teams compete to go to the 64-team Division I baseball tournament and then to Omaha, Nebraska, and Charles Schwab Field, for the eight-team Men's College World Series (MCWS). Conference affiliations are current for the coming 2023 NCAA baseball season. Kermit Blosser Ohio Athletics Hall Of Fame
The Kermit Blosser Ohio Athletics Hall of Fame is the hall of fame for Ohio Bobcats athletes and athletic personnel. Since 1965, selectees to the Hall are inducted during annual ceremonies, including recognition at halftime of a home college football game. Inductees are also honored via display of their portrait and accomplishments in the Hall, located in the university's Convocation Center. Since 2000, the Hall usually names three to five new inductees each year. Kermit Blosser On October 20, 2006, Ohio athletic director Kirby Hocutt announced the renaming of the Ohio Athletics Hall of Fame to the Kermit Blosser Ohio Athletics Hall of Fame. Mickey Briglia
D. Michael "Mickey" Briglia (September 6, 1929 – January 3, 2006) was a college baseball coach at Glassboro State College (now Rowan University). Briglia's teams won the NCAA Division III World Series in 1978 and again in 1979. A native of Yorkville, Ohio, Briglia graduated from Ohio University in 1950, where he was a co-captain of the school's baseball team. He was awarded a doctorate at Temple University in 1968. Briglia had an overall record of 502-258-9 in his 25 years coaching the Rowan Profs baseball team from 1964 to 1988. He was named NAIA coach of the year in 1968, and NCAA coach of the year for the 1978–79 season. Briglia was inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1990. Steve Swisher
Steven Eugene Swisher (born August 9, 1951) is an American former professional baseball player and minor league manager. He played in Major League Baseball as a catcher for the Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, and San Diego Padres from 1974 to 1982. Swisher was elected to the 1976 National League All-Star team with the Cubs but did not play in the game. He is the father of former MLB first baseman Nick Swisher. College Swisher attended Ohio University for a degree in education and played baseball. During his freshman season, the team went to the College World Series.
