"Oh Girl" is a song written by Eugene Record and recorded by American soul vocal group the Chi-Lites, with Record on vocals and also producing. It was released as a single on Brunswick Records in 1972. Included on the group's 1972 album '' A Lonely Man'', "Oh Girl" centers on a relationship on the verge of break-up. "Oh Girl" was the Chi-Lites' first and only No. 1 single on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, peaking at that position in May 1972 for one week. The single also reached the top position of the ''Billboard'' R&B Singles chart the following month, remaining in that position for two weeks. ''Billboard'' ranked it as the No. 13 song for 1972. The Chi-Lites (, ) are an American R&B/soul vocal quartet from Chicago, Illinois, United States. Forming at Chicago's Hyde Park High School in 1959, The group's original lineup consisted of singers Robert Lester, Eugene Record, Creadel Jones, Clarence Johnson, Burt Bowen, Eddie Reed and Marshall Thompson. Melodica
The melodica is a handheld free-reed instrument similar to a pump organ or harmonica. It features a musical keyboard on top, and is played by blowing air through a mouthpiece that fits into a hole in the side of the instrument. The keyboard usually covers two or three octaves. The Dutch Single Top 100 or Single Top 100 is a Dutch chart, based on official physical single sales, legal downloads and since July 2013 streaming and composed by Dutch Charts. Pete Wingfield
William Peter Wingfield (born 7 May 1948) is an English record producer, keyboard player, songwriter, singer and music journalist. Career Whilst at Sussex University Wingfield and three other students formed the group Jellybread. In 1969, he played keyboards and sang on their ''First Slice'' album, which was produced by Mike Vernon for the Blue Horizon label. In the 1970s, Wingfield was a specialist in soul music and regularly contributed articles and reviews to the monthly journal, " Let It Rock" and "Melody Maker".
