Oggs Cruz
Francis Joseph "Oggs" Cruz is a Filipino lawyer and film critic best known for his reviews of Philippine New Wave films in prominent publications including the Philippine Star, the Philippines Free Press and Rappler. Cruz's reviews have led him to be invited to join the selection committees of several major Philippine festivals, including the Cinema One Originals Film Festival, the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (), abbreviated as PPP, is a film festival held in the Philippines in celebration of the ''Buwan ng Wika''. Rappler (portmanteau of the words "rap" and "ripple") is a Filipino online news website based in Pasig, Metro Manila, the Philippines. Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (), abbreviated as PPP, is a film festival held in the Philippines in celebration of the ''Buwan ng Wika''. It is organized by the Film Development Council of the Philippines. Similar to the Metro Manila Film Festival, only shortlisted films will be shown in cinemas except in select 3D cinemas, VIP cinemas (in an opt-in/opt-out basis by developer) and IMAX theaters. The movies are classified into 3 categories. First are the Main Feature Films which are competing for the awards. Second are the "Sine Kabataan Shorts" which are 5-minute short films that are played before the feature film. The Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival is a film festival in the Philippines held annually during the month August at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex and various cinemas. Its aim is the development and promotion of Filipino independent films. The film festival is organized by the Cinemalaya Foundation, Inc. with the support of the Cultural Center of the Philippines and Econolink Investments, Inc. Each year, the Festival provides "seed investments" of ₱500,000 (US$10,000~) to ten independent filmmakers. It has since been increased to ₱1,000,000 (US$20,000~) since 2019.
