It heads at the confluence of its North and South Forks, about south-southwest of Crawfordville and flowing generally southeast to Ossabaw Sound about south of Savannah. Ogeechee Lime Tree
''Nyssa ogeche'', commonly referred to as Ogeechee tupelo, white tupelo, river lime, ogeechee lime tree, sour gum or wild lime is a deciduous tree. Growing to 15 m (~50 ft), it is in flower from March to May, and the seeds ripen from August to October. The flowers are pollinated by bees. It is noted for attracting wildlife. Ogeechee tupelo requires a very moist site and is distributed along the borders of rivers, swamps, and ponds that are frequently inundated. Tupelo prefers slow flowing, low water to standing water. It grows naturally from the borders of South Carolina near the coast through the Ogeechee Valley in Georgia to Clay County in northern Florida and Washington County in western Florida. It is found in abundance along the Ogeechee, Altamaha, and Suwannee Rivers, and in certain wet flatwood regions between the Choctawhatchee and Wakulla Rivers of Florida. USS ''Ogeechee'' (AOG-35) was a ''Mettawee''-class gasoline tanker acquired by the U.S. Navy for the dangerous task of transporting gasoline to warships in the fleet, and to remote Navy stations. Ogeechee Technical College
Ogeechee Technical College (OTC) is a public technical college in Statesboro, Georgia. It is part of the Technical College System of Georgia. OTC serves Bulloch, Evans, Screven and surrounding counties. History State Senator Joe Kennedy was instrumental in the creation of Ogeechee Technical Institute, a post-secondary school that he hoped would educate and give job training to people in Bulloch County and the surrounding area. Ogeechee Technical Institute was created in 1987 by approval of the Georgia General Assembly. In 1989, Ogeechee Technical Institute became responsible for Adult Literacy throughout its service area. That same year, Practical Nursing, with a student body of twenty-five became the first credited program to be offered by the Institute.
