Ogbourne Maizey
Ogbourne Maizey is a hamlet in Wiltshire, England north of the town of Marlborough and south of the village of Ogbourne St. Andrew. The hamlet is in the civil parish of Ogbourne St. Andrew, on the banks of the River Og. A map of 1773 shows an almost continuous ribbon of buildings along the river between Ogbourne Maizey and Ogbourne St. Andrew. Today the hamlet consists of commuter housing and racehorse stables on the narrow road that leads over the downs to Rockley. Local primary-level children usually go to the school in Ogbourne St. George or to Marlborough. The hamlet has no church but is part of the Ridgeway Benefice that also includes Rockley, Ogbourne St. Andrew, Ogbourne St. George and Chiseldon. Ogbourne St Andrew is a civil parish and small village in Wiltshire, England, north of Marlborough. The parish is on the banks of the River Og and includes the hamlets of Ogbourne Maizey and Rockley. History Domesday Book of 1086 recorded a relatively large settlement of 71 households at ''Ocheborne'', corresponding to the later manors of St Andrew and St George. Ogbourne Priory was a dependency of Bec Abbey in Normandy from the 12th century until the early 15th; there may have been a priory building in the 13th century but later the priory existed only as a legal name for the administration of the Bec estates in England. Parish church The Anglican Church of St Andrew has 12th-century origins and work from that century survives in the north door (with chevron hoodmould) and details of the arcades; the piscina at the south side is a re-used capital. Ogbourne St George is a village and civil parish on the River Og about north of Marlborough, Wiltshire, England. History Domesday Book of 1086 recorded a relatively large settlement of 71 households at ''Ocheborne'', corresponding to the later manors of St Andrew and St George. In the Middle Ages the manor of Ogbourne St George belonged to the Benedictine Abbey of Bec in Normandy. Ogbourne Priory was founded in about 1149 as a daughter house of the abbey.Pevsner & Cherry, 1975, page 366 For some two hundred years the priory managed all the English estates belonging to the abbey. During World War II the address of the manor house was used atop a fictitious headed letter from 'Pam' to 'Major Martin' as a part of Operation Mincemeat, a disinformation strategy, the idea being that 'no German could resist the "Englishness" of such an address'. Lyndon Ogbourne
Lyndon Saul Ogbourne (born 18 May 1983) is an English actor. He is known for his role as Nathan Wylde in the ITV1 soap opera ''Emmerdale''. Background Ogbourne began acting at the age of six. He was educated at Commonweal School before studying drama, media and photography at Swindon College. He trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Ogbourne's grandfather, Michael Beint and his brother, Tristan Beint, are also actors. Career Ogbourne started his television career in 2000 with a part in TV film ''Anchor Me'' opposite Annette Crosbie. Guest roles in '' Spooks'' and ''Robin Hood'' followed in 2006.
