Ofill Echevarria
Ofill Echevarria (born 1972 in Havana, Cuba) is a painter and multimedia artist based in New York City. Ofill graduated from the Elementary School of Fine Arts '20 de Octubre' in 1986 and from the San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts in 1991. As a founder member of the controversially famous Havanan art collective, Arte Calle (1986-1988) becomes part of the Cuban art scene of the late eighties. In 1991 he traveled to Mexico City to pursue an art scholarship, where he lived for ten years. In 2002, represented by the renowned Praxis International Art - Mexico, which later became the Alfredo Ginocchio Gallery, both in Mexico City, Ofill moved to Miami. In 2005 he moved to New York City, where she currently lives and works. Since 2001 Ofill has exhibited his work broadly all over Latin America and the United States of America both, individually and participating in many international art fairs and group shows. San Alejandro Academy Of Fine Arts
Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes San Alejandro, is the oldest and most prestigious fine arts school in Cuba. It is also known as Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes "San Alejandro", Academia San Alejandro, or San Alejandro Academy. The school is located in Marianao, a suburb of Havana, and was founded in 1818 at the ''Convent of San Alejandro''. It is located today in a monumental building built in the early 1940s. The Arte Calle treet Art'' Group (El Grupo Arte Calle) was a Cuban art collective founded by Aldo Menéndez Lopez(Aldito) and Ofill Echevarria in 1986. The group, as first was documented by a documentary of the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión (EICTV) de San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba (International School of Cinema and Television of San Antonio de los Baños), directed by Pablo Dotta as his thesis work and copyrighted, 1988, Entitled: "Viva la Revolu", consisted of eight students of visual art in ages between 16 and 23 years old, most of them from the legendary Academy Of San Alejandro, who staged a series of "Murals", "Graffitis", “Happenings” and "Performances" between 1986 and 1988. The Museo Nacional de Arte (MUNAL) ( en, National Museum of Art) is the Mexico, Mexican national art museum, located in the Centro (Mexico City), historical center of Mexico City. The museum is housed in a neoclassical building at No. 8 Tacuba, Col. Centro, Mexico City. It includes a large collection representing the history of Mexican art from the mid-sixteenth century to the mid 20th century. It is recognizable by Manuel Tolsá's large equestrian statue of Charles IV of Spain, who was the monarch just before Mexico gained its independence. The Carnegie Art Museum is a public art museum owned by the City of Oxnard, California in the building originally occupied by the Oxnard Public Library. The Neo-Classical building, located adjacent to Oxnard's Plaza Park, opened in 1907 as the Oxnard Public Library and was converted into an art museum in 1986. Wet-on-wet, or ''alla prima'' (Italian, meaning ''at first attempt''), direct painting or au premier coup, is a painting technique in which layers of wet paint are applied to previously administered layers of wet paint. Used mostly in oil painting, the technique requires a fast way of working, because the work has to be finished before the first layers have dried.
