Malcolm Offord
Malcolm Ian Offord, Baron Offord of Garvel (born 5 September 1964) is a Scottish financier and Scottish Conservatives, Conservative Party politician in the House of Lords and Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Scotland. Early life and career Offord was born in Greenock, in September 1964. He was educated at Ardgowan Primary School and Greenock Academy, and graduated in Law from the University of Edinburgh. Offord worked for six years from 1987 until 1993 at the merchant bank Lazard, in the Corporate Finance department specialising in mergers and acquisitions. In 1994, he began his private equity investing career with 3i, 3i plc followed by two years at Bankers Trust of New York where he was managing director of European Acquisition Finance. In 1998, he joined Charterhouse Capital Partners as a partner and remained there for sixteen years, investing four European private equity funds before retiring as senior partner in December 2013. Offord D'Arcy
Offord D'Arcy is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Offord Cluny and Offord D'Arcy. It is north of St Neots and south-west of Huntingdon. Offord D'Arcy is in Huntingdonshire which is a non-metropolitan district of Cambridgeshire as well as a historic county of England. It is the twin village of Offord Cluny and together they are known as The Offords. The Offords
The Offords is the name given to the two villages of Offord Cluny and Offord D'Arcy, situated on the east bank of the River Great Ouse between Saint Neots and Huntingdon in west Cambridgeshire. The Offords were both recorded in the Domesday Book as 'Upeforde' under two different landowners, which suggests they were one village at that time. By the 13th Century they had evolved into two distinct settlements, and remained so until the proximity and resulting close co-operation of the two villages lead to their merger in 2010. In 2008 the Parish Councils merged, and in 2010 the Huntingdon (Parishes) Order 2009 officially created the new Parish of 'Offord Cluny and Offord D'Arcy'. Matthew Offord
Matthew James Offord (born 3 September 1969) is a British Conservative Party politician who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Hendon since 2010. He was previously a member of the Association of European Parliamentarians with Africa Governing Council. Early life and education Offord was born on 3 September 1969 in Alton, Hampshire, England to Christopher and Hilda Offord. His father was a builder. He attended Amery Hill School and then studied Geography at Nottingham Trent University. He worked as a BBC political analyst. Offord also obtained a master's degree in Environment, Culture and Society from Lancaster University in 2000, and a PhD in Geography from King's College London. Eddy Offord
Eddy Offord (born 20 February 1943) is a retired English record producer and audio engineer who gained prominence in the 1970s for his work on albums by the progressive rock bands Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Yes. Life and career Offord studied physics at university, and landed a job as a trainee engineer at Advision Studios in London to fill in spare time. Not long into his time at the studio, he started work as an engineer. Offord would spend much of his career working at Advision Studios. ELP wrote a tribute to Offord with the song "Are You Ready, Eddy?", featured on their 1971 album ''Tarkus''. In 1970, Offord began his partnership with Yes. The partnership was fruitful but tumultuous; Offord remarked that producing Yes was like "trying to produce five producers." Cyril Offord
Albert Cyril Offord FRS FRSE (9 June 1906 – 4 June 2000) was a British mathematician. He was the first professor of mathematics at the London School of Economics. Life He was born in London on 9 June 1906 the eldest child of Albert Edwin Offord, a master printer, and his wife Hester Louise, a former opera singer. The family were Plymouth Brethren. He was educated at Hackney Downs Grammar School. He then studied Mathematics at University College, London. He then went to St John's College, Cambridge as a postgraduate, working with Prof John Edensor Littlewood. He received two Ph.D.s in mathematics: the first from the University of London (under Bosanquet) in 1932, the second from Cambridge (under Hardy) in 1936. In 1940 he left Cambridge to lecture at University College, Bangor. In 1942 he moved to King's College, Newcastle-upon-Tyne (later being named the University of Newcastle). Buckden is a village and civil parish north of St Neots and south-west of Huntingdon, England. It includes the hamlets of Stirtloe and Hardwick. John de Ufford (died 20 May 1349) was chancellor and head of the royal administration to Edward III as well as being appointed to the Archbishopric of Canterbury.
