	Oedipus Mayor ''Oedipus Mayor '' ( es, Edipo alcalde) is a 1996 Colombian tragedy film, produced by Tomás Zapata and Jorge Sánchez, directed by Jorge Alí Triana. Set in strife-ridden, 20th-century Colombia, the film is a modern-day interpretation of Sophocles' classical Greek tragedy ''Oedipus Rex''. He studied theater and film in Czechoslovakia and in Berlin. It is one of the founders of the Popular Theater of Bogota in 1967, starting as theatre director, directing more than 50 works. With the TPB, he won several awards that have established him as one of the most important directors in the country. 	Alfonso Ortiz Alfonso Alex Ortiz (April 30, 1939 Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo, New Mexico – January 26, 1997) was a Native American cultural anthropologist. Life Ortiz graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1961, and from the University of Chicago with a master's degree and a Ph.D. in anthropology.
