Odisha State Film Awards
The Odisha State Film Awards have been conferred by the Department of Culture of the Government of Odisha, India. The awards were initiated in 1968. The awards are decided by independent juries formed by the Department of Culture. The jury usually consists of eminent personalities from the film fraternity, academician, journalist and public servants. Sisir Mishra is an Indian film director and screenwriter best known for directing Hindi and Odia language films including '' Bheegi Palkein'', ''Samay Ki Dhara'', ''Billoo Baadshaah'', ''TADA'' and ''Aseema''. Bhanumati Devi (15 May 1934 – 4 January 2013) was a Burmese-born Indian film and theater actress. Devi was born in British Burma on 15 May 1934. She moved to Puri, Odisha, India, with her Indian family following World War II. Devi began acting in the theater in 1942 when she was just seven years old. Some of her best reviewed stage roles were in ''Lakhye Hira'' and ''Napahu Rati Namaru Pati’''. Devi appeared at the Annapurna Theatre in Cuttack for more than forty years. Manmohan Mahapatra (ମନମୋହନ ମହାପାତ୍ର, 10 November 1951 – 13 January 2020) was an Odia filmmaker, director, producer, and writer. He won eight consecutive national film awards for his films ''Nishita Swapna'', ''Majhi Pahacha'', ''Tired Afternoon'', '' Neeraba Jhada'', ''Seeta Raati'', and ''Bhinna Samaya'', among others. His first film ''Seeta Raati'' made in 1976 was the first Odia film to be screened at international film festival in 1982. Manimala Devi (19 June 1931 – 16 June 2016) was an Indian Odia film actress. Devi was born in the Bilibasi village of Cuttack, and stepped into the film world at the age of nine. Uttam Mohanty is an Indian actor who has to his credit more than 135 Odia films to date and has acted in 30 Bengali films and in a Hindi film '' Naya Zaher''.
