The 12819 / 12820 ''Odisha Sampark Kranti Express'' is a bi-weekly train which runs between Bhubaneswar, capital of Odisha and . This train was introduced as part of the Sampark Kranti trains that were announced by the then railway minister Nitish Kumar in 2005. It was and still is a bi-weekly train. Earlier the train used to terminate at New Delhi railway station (NDLS) but now terminates at Anand Vihar Terminus (ANVT) of New Delhi. Its rakes are maintained by East Coast Railway (ECoR). Rake composition This train consists of 1 First AC, 1 AC 2-Tier coach, 6 AC 3-Tier coaches, 7 Sleeper coaches, 2 General coaches,1 Pantry Car, 1 Divyang-cum-Guard Coach and 1 EOG coach. Sampark Kranti Express trains are a series of Superfast express trains operated by the Indian Railways providing quick connectivity to the national capital, New Delhi. Overview The words ''Sampark'' and ''Kranti'' are borrowed from Sanskrit. Sampark(''Devanagari'':-''सम्पर्क'') means Contact and Kranti(''Devanagari'':-क्रान्ति ) means Revolution. The combined name denotes the steps taken by Indian Railways to provide high speed train connections from cities around India with the National Capital through the provision of non-air conditioned express trains with few stops and operating at high speeds. A similar capability had been introduced earlier on the Rajdhani express. However, these trains were completely air-conditioned and hence quite expensive. East Coast Railway
The East Coast Railway (abbreviated ECoR) is one of the 19 railway zones of Indian Railways. It came into existence on 1 April 2003. The headquarters of the zone are at Bhubaneswar, Odisha History Consequent upon the parliament's approval, East Coast Railway was the first of the seven new zones to be inaugurated by the then Prime Minister of India H. D. Deve Gowda on 8 August 1996. The Officer-on-Special Duty took over charge of the newly declared Zone on 16 September 1996. Initially, only one division namely Khurda Road was attached to this railway. Subsequently, the zone became fully operational on 1 April 2003. The Indian locomotive class WAP-7 is a class of 25 Volt, kV Alternating current, AC Electric locomotive, electric locomotives that was developed in 1999 by Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) for Indian Railways.
