The Odisha Rugby Football Association, abbreviated ("ORFA") is the governing body for rugby union in Odisha, India. It is a member of India Rugby Football Union with a seat on that body's Executive Council. The Odisha RFA is the administrative body of all the state teams, including men's and women's union and sevens teams. Rugby union, commonly known simply as rugby, is a close-contact team sport that originated at Rugby School in the first half of the 19th century. India National Rugby Union Team
India national rugby union team is a national team that represents India in the international rugby championships and matches. It is governed by Rugby India organization which is recognised by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of government of India. It was admitted to the International Rugby Board, IRB in 2001, but it took three years before India won a match, beating Pakistan national rugby union team, Pakistan 56–3 in the third tier competition of the Asian Biennial tournament. In 2005, they started their attempt to qualify for the 2007 Rugby World Cup, but a 22–36 loss to Kazakhstan national rugby union team, Kazakhstan sent them out of the running for that tournament. They also were disappointed with an 8–8 tie in Guam national rugby union team, Guam, but still managed to finish second in their group of four teams thanks to beating Malaysia rugby union team, Malaysia 48–12. The Odisha Olympic Association (OOA) is the governing body of sports in Odisha. It is responsible for selecting athletes to represent India at the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and National Games of India. History The history of organised sports in Odisha traces its origins to 1904, when Madhusudan Das formed the Orissa Sports Association. It was an athletic institution which organised the sports competitions for seasonal and annual provincial games. It eventually became the Orissa Athletic Association in 1909 and remained the primary sports association in the province until the formation of Orissa Olympic Association in 1946. 2015 National Games Of India
The 2015 National Games of India, also known as the ''35th National Games of India'' and informally as Kerala 2015, was held from 31 January 2015 to 14 February 2015 across seven districts of Kerala, India. It was the second time that Kerala hosted the national games, the first being when it hosted the 27th National Games in 1987. The opening ceremony took place at Greenfield Stadium, on 31 January 2015 at 6.00 PM. Union Minister of Urban Development, Shri Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated the opening ceremony. Former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was selected as the goodwill ambassador for the games.
