Odesa National Medical University
The Odesa National Medical University ( ua, Одеський національний медичний університет, translit=Odeskyi natsionalnyi medychnyi universytet) is a renowned government university in the city of Odesa, Ukraine. History The institution started in 1900 as the medical faculty of the Novorossiyskiy State University in Odessa. The medical faculty soon became one of the most prestigious medical faculties in the Russian Empire. Many famous medical scientists, including Nobel laureate and professor I. I. Mechnikov, worked here. The medical faculty managed to survive the difficult and turbulent period of the early years of the Russian revolution and in 1922 it was transformed into the independent and autonomous Odesa State Medical Institute. Valeriy Zaporozhan
Valeriy Zaporozhan is ex-rector of Odessa State Medical University (Ukraine), Ukrainian researcher. His initial specialization was obstetrics and gynaecology, which further broadened to cryosurgery and endoscopy, immunology, reproductive medicine, genetic medicine, stem cells, and bioethics. Valentyn Serdyuk (born July 9, 1942) is a Ukrainian scientist, honored inventor, and Prof MD of Traumatology and Orthopedic Surgery in Odessa National Medical University. Education In 1966, after graduating from Odessa Medical Institute (now ONMedU), he earned his medical degree "with honors". In 1975, he defended his PhD thesis, and in 1986 — his PhD.
