Oddvar Nygaard
Oddvar Nygaard (July 23, 1919 – April 21, 1985) was a Norwegians, Norwegian accordionist and composer. Nygaard was born in Hundorp in the municipality of Sør-Fron. His first recording was made in 1942, and his teachers included the accordionist Ottar E. Akre. Together with the fiddler Ola Opheim, he was one of the most important Norwegian folk musicians in the decades after the Second World War. With his ensemble, the Oddvar Nygaard Quartet (''Oddvar Nygaards kvartett''), he recorded 24 albums between 1964 and 1985. In addition to Nygaard himself on accordion, the quartet consisted of Ola Opheim on fiddle, Finn Westbye on guitar, and Håkon Nilsen on bass. The quartet won the 1973 ''Spellemannprisen'' contest in the category of folk music and old-fashioned dance, which was awarded for the first time that year. Norwegians
Norwegians ( no, nordmenn) are a North Germanic ethnic group and nation native to Norway, where they form the vast majority of the population. They share a common culture and speak the Norwegian language. Norwegians are descended from the Norse of the Early Middle Ages who formed a unified Kingdom of Norway in the 9th century. Ole Ellefsæter
Ole Martin Ellefsæter (15 February 1939 – 18 October 2022) was a Norwegian athlete. He mostly competed in cross-country skiing, and won two gold medals at the 1968 Winter Olympics. At the 1966 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships he won one gold (4 × 10 km relay) and one silver (15 km) medal, and in 1971 he became the first Norwegian to win Vasaloppet. Competing in the 3000 metres steeplechase, he won six national championships in a row, from 1960 to 1965. For his accomplishments in both sports, he was awarded Egebergs Ærespris. Ellefsæter also had a singing career, and had two hit songs in Norway. Skiing career Ellefsæter won the Birkebeinerrennet in 1961. He became national champion in 15 km cross-country skiing in 1964, and competed at the 1964 Winter Olympics, where his best placement was eighth in the 50 kilometre. Spellemannprisen Winners
Spellemannprisen, often referred to as the Norwegian Grammy Awards in English, is a Norwegian music award presented to Norwegian musicians. The award was established by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), an organization that represents the interests of the recording industry worldwide. First awarded in 1973, the prize honours musicians from the previous year; it is still awarded annually, usually in January or February. The Spellemann committee, composed of members of IFPI Norway and FONO, manages the award and acts as the judge. 21 categories are currently awarded, in addition to other honorary and industry awards the committee may give.
