Odds And Sods
''Odds & Sods'' is an album of studio outtakes by British rock band the Who. It was released by Track Records in the UK and Track/ MCA in the US in October 1974. Ten of the recordings on original eleven song album were previously unreleased. The album reached No. 10 on the UK charts and No. 15 in the US. The recordings were compiled by Who bassist John Entwistle. Two LPs of songs were considered in 1974, but only one LP was released at the time. "It could have been a double album, there was that much material," Entwistle said. It was one of the earliest examples of artists compiling such material. The Who, as well as many other artists, later released similar albums, such as "Who's Missing". Background In the autumn of 1973, while Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend and Keith Moon were preparing for the ''Tommy'' film, Entwistle was put in charge of completing an album to counter the rampant bootlegging that arose from the Who's concerts. Roger Harry Daltrey (born 1 March 1944) is an English singer, musician and actor. He is a co-founder and the lead singer of the Rock music, rock band The Who. ''Who's Missing'' is a compilation of rare and previously unreleased songs by The Who. Its second part ''Two's Missing'' was released on 11 April 1987. The CD was reissued in Japan on 24 December 2011 with additional bonus tracks drawn from the Japanese only bonus disc for '' Then and Now'', as a 2-CD set together with ''Two's Missing''. The album was remastered by Jon Astley from the original analog master tapes. A phonograph record (also known as a gramophone record, especially in British English), or simply a record, is an analog sound storage medium in the form of a flat disc with an inscribed, modulated spiral groove. An outtake is a portion of a work (usually a film or music recording) that is removed in the editing process and not included in the work's final, publicly released version. In the digital era, significant outtakes have been appended to CD and DVD reissues of many albums and films as bonus tracks or features, in film often, but not always, for the sake of humor. In terms of photos, an outtake may also mean the ones which are not released in the original set of photos (i.e. photo shoots and digitals).
