Odd Myre
Odd Myre (9 November 1912 – 4 July 2005) was a Norwegian marketing agent. He was a son of Olav Myre, who founded the news agency ''Myres Pressebyrå'' in 1910. In 1935, Odd Myre took over the company, which had been supplemented with advertising in 1918. Due to new laws, the advertising and news section had to be split, and the company was carried on as ''Myres Reklamebyrå'', purely with advertising. Myre sat as CEO of the company until 1968. He was succeeded by Asbjørn Sæthre, who sat until 1998. The company was merged with BBDO in 1999. In 1958, he co-founded the ''Institute of Marketing'' (). The Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA), incorporated by a Royal Charter, is the trade body and professional institute for agencies and individuals working in the UK's advertising, media and marketing communications industry. History Founded in 1917 as the Association of British Advertising Agents, it was succeeded in 1927 by the Institute of Incorporated Practitioners in Advertising to secure further professional status and recognition for its members. The Defence Medal 1940–1945 () is the award rewarded to those military and civilian personnel who participated in the fight against the German invasion and occupation of Norway between 1940 and 1945. The Defence Medal 1940–1945 can be awarded both to Norwegian and foreign citizens. The medal may still be awarded due to the large number of participants in the defence of Norway during World War II and the difficulties tracking down all eligible recipients. The medal is in bronze. On the obverse is the coat of arms with the inscription . On the reverse is the royal flag, the flag and national flag. Above these a narrow circle with the inscription (Participant in the struggle). The image is surrounded by a chain. The band is in the Norwegian national colors. The band can be fitted with a rosette if the recipient has distinguished himself several times. Vestre Gravlund is a cemetery in the Frogner borough of Oslo, Norway. It is located next to the Borgen metro station. At , it is the largest cemetery in Norway. It was inaugurated in September 1902 and also contains a crematorium (''Vestre krematorium'') and chapel (''Gravkapellet''). The grave chapel was constructed in granite and clay stone and was designed by architect Alfred Christian Dahl (1857–1940). It was built in 1900 and consecrated in 1902.
