Odd Kirkeby
Odd Kirkeby (3 April 1925 – 26 December 2009) was a Norwegian politician for the Conservative Party. He was born in Vang, Hedmark as a son of a shopowner. Following a mercantile education Odd Kirkeby was himself a shopowner his entire career. He entered politics after the Second World War and chaired the Young Conservatives in Hamar from 1946 to 1949, and in Hedmark from 1950–52 and 1954–56. He quickly advanced to chairman of the Conservative Party in Hamar from 1950–52 and 1958–60, and in Hedmark from 1967 to 1971. Kirkeby was an elected member of Hamar city council's executive committee from 1955 to 1975 and Hedmark county council from 1963 to 1991. He then embarked on three more terms in Hamar city council, 1991 to 2003. The Conservative Party or The Right ( nb, Høyre, nn, Høgre, , H; se, Olgešbellodat) is a liberal-conservative political party in Norway. It is the major party of the Norwegian centre-right, and was the leading party in government as part of the Solberg cabinet from 2013 to 2021. Vang, Hedmark
Vang is a former municipality in the old Hedmark county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1992 when it became part of Hamar Municipality. The administrative centre of the municipality was at Fredvang. This site, however became part of the town of Hamar in 1946, so after that time, the municipal administration was actually located outside the municipal borders in the neighboring municipality. The main church for the municipality was Vang Church in the village of Ridabu. Gåsbu Ski Center lies in Vang Almenning, and has served as the backup venue for the ''Holmenkollrennene''. This arena has been described as the cradle of all Nordic ski competition, with more than 112 years of international ski competition. Hamar is a List of cities in Norway, town in Hamar Municipality in Innlandet Counties of Norway, county, Norway. Hamar is the administrative centre of Hamar Municipality. Hedmark () was a county in Norway before 1 January 2020, bordering Trøndelag to the north, Oppland to the west, Akershus to the south, and Sweden to the east. The county administration is in Hamar. Hedmark and Oppland counties were merged into Innlandet county on 1 January 2020, when Norway's former 19 counties became 10 bigger counties / regions Hedmark made up the northeastern part of Østlandet, the southeastern part of the country.
