Ocurrió Así
''Ocurrió así'' (Spanish: ''It Happened Like So'') is Spanish-language network Telemundo's first original investigative news magazine that launched on October 8, 1990 to April 26, 2002. The show was originally hosted by Enrique Gratas from 1990 until he left the network in 1999. Pedro Sevcec, a previous reporter for the show, returned as temporary host that year. The show later re-launched in 2000 with Ana Patricia Candiani hosting. Candela Ferro joined the program in 2001, and both remained until its cancellation in 2002. Broadcast history ''Ocurrió Así'' premiered on October 8, 1990 with Enrique Gratas as host, airing in the 5:00 p.m. timeslot. It became an instant hit, winning six Emmy Awards, and becoming the leading program for the network. Ratings, however, gradually started to slip due in part to facing competition from rival network Univision's ''Primer Impacto'' in the same timeslot. ''Al Rojo Vivo'' (Red Hot) is a Spanish language news program on the American television network Telemundo, which has been broadcast on that network since 2002, replacing the long-running ''Ocurrió Así''. The name derives from the Spanish language expression meaning heated until red hot, the glowing color of an object between about 500 °C and 800 °C. As in English it can be used to indicate intense emotion or a situation ready to be shaped or forged by public opinion. The show is very similar from its Univision competitor, Primer Impacto, featuring a mix of tabloid and entertainment news, sports, weather, and human interest stories. Telemundo (; formerly NetSpan) is an American Spanish-language terrestrial television network owned by NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, a division of NBCUniversal, which in turn is owned by Comcast. Maritza Martin
Maritza Martin Munoz (October 29, 1959 – January 18, 1993) was a woman shot to death by her ex-husband, Emilio Nuñez, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery in North Lauderdale, Florida. Nuñez had been interviewed by ''Ocurrió Así'' television reporter Ingrid Cruz, who accompanied him when he visited his daughter's grave. While the crew was filming Nuñez at the cemetery, Martin arrived for her own visit, at which time Cruz confronted Martin, who was sitting silently in her vehicle, insisting that Martin answer his questions. Martin and Nuñez' 15-year-old daughter, Yoandra, had killed herself in November 1992 following their discovery of her being 13 weeks pregnant, and Nuñez had blamed the incident on Martin.
