Ochsenhausen
Ochsenhausen () is a city in the district of Biberach, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is located between the city of Biberach and Memmingen. it has a population of 8,916. The mayor of the town is Andreas Denzel. History For many centuries, Ochsenhausen Abbey (''Reichskloster Ochsenhausen''), first mentioned in 1093, was a self -governing prince-abbey within the Holy Roman Empire ruled by a prince-abbot. In 1803, in the course of the German mediatisation, the abbey was secularized and erected into a secular principality that was then granted to Count Franz Georg Karl von Metternich in compensation for the loss of his immediate fiefs on the left bank of the Rhine after the whole area was annexed by revolutionary France. In 1806, the short-lived principality was annexed to the Kingdom of Württemberg, which in 1871 became part of the German Empire. The abbey still dominates the town from a hill. Ochsenhausen Abbey
Ochsenhausen Abbey (formerly Ochsenhausen Priory; german: Reichskloster or ) was a Benedictine monastery in Ochsenhausen in the district of Biberach in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. History The traditional story of the foundation, in which there may be some elements of truth, is that in the 9th century there was a nunnery here called ''"Hohenhusen"'', which was abandoned at the time of the Hungarian invasions in the early 10th century. A ploughing ox later turned up a chest of valuables buried by the nuns before their flight, and the monastery of Ochsenhausen was founded on that spot. The first Abbey Church of Ochsenhausen was in fact dedicated in 1093. The monastery was initially a priory of St. Blaise's Abbey in the Black Forest, but gained the status of an independent abbey in 1391. In 1495 it became ''Reichsfrei'' (territorially independent). German Mediatisation
German mediatisation (; german: deutsche Mediatisierung) was the major territorial restructuring that took place between 1802 and 1814 in Germany and the surrounding region by means of the mass mediatisation and secularisation of a large number of Imperial Estates. Most ecclesiastical principalities, free imperial cities, secular principalities, and other minor self-ruling entities of the Holy Roman Empire lost their independent status and were absorbed into the remaining states. By the end of the mediatisation process, the number of German states had been reduced from almost 300 to just 39. Nicole Rolser (born 7 February 1992) is a German footballer who last played for Bayern Munich. Career Rolser started her professional career in 2009–10 at second division VfL Sindelfingen. In their first season she played 21 league matches and scored one goal. Matthias Dolderer (born 15 September 1970 in Ochsenhausen, Baden Württemberg) is a German professional race pilot. He is the 2016 champion of the Red Bull Air Race. Flying career Beginnings Dolderer, who once colourfully compared the precision-flying of the Red Bull Air Race to trying to park a car in a garage while travelling at nearly 400 kilometres per hour, first went flying with his father when he was three years old. He was raised at his parents' flight school and at the early age of five became hooked on machines and fast cars making his first solo flight at 14. His life has revolved around aviation ever since. Hanns-Friedrich Kunz (born 21 February 1945) is a German choral conductor. Life and career Born in Ochsenhausen, Kunz first studied music at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart. He then moved to Freiburg where he studied singing from 1969 to 1973. During his studies he was a member of the Gächinger Kantorei and took choir-conducting lessons with Helmuth Rilling in Frankfurt. He attended various master classes, with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Erik Werba among others. In 1974 he won a prize in the category "Lied and Oratorio" at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich. In addition to his engagement as a concert singer at home and abroad, he was a lecturer at the music academies in Freiburg and Karlsruhe for many years. Biberach (district)
Biberach () is a ''Landkreis'' (district) in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is bounded by (from the south and clockwise) the districts of Ravensburg, Sigmaringen, Reutlingen and Alb-Donau, and the Bavarian districts Neu-Ulm, Unterallgäu and the district-free city Memmingen. The major towns in the district of Biberach are Biberach an der Riß, Riedlingen, Ochsenhausen and Laupheim.
