Oceanside Ice Arena
Oceanside Ice Arena was an ice arena and skating center in Tempe, Arizona. It served as the home of the Desert Youth Hockey Association from 1975 to 2023 and formerly Arizona State Sun Devils men's and women's hockey, the Arizona State Men's program had been at Oceanside since 1979. Naming Oceanside's original name was Big Skate to match the adjacent waterpark "Big Surf" and to match the never built tennis court "Big Serve" before it was changed to Oceanside sometime before opening to match the west coast theming of the sports complex. Arizona State Sun Devils Men's Ice Hockey
The Arizona State Sun Devils men's ice hockey team is the college ice hockey team that represents Arizona State University. It plays its home games at Mullett Arena in Tempe. The Sun Devils initially competed in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA). Since the 2015–16 season, it has competed as an independent in NCAA Division I—one of only three teams to do so. Arizona State also maintains both WCHL Club Level teams with the WCHL D-1 Sun Devils, and the PAC-8 D-2 Sun Devils, respectively. Arizona State Sun Devils Women's Ice Hockey
The Arizona State Sun Devils women's ice hockey team represents Arizona State University (ASU) in American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) women's Division I competition as a member of the Western Women's Collegiate Hockey League (WWCHL). It plays its home games at Mullett Arena in Tempe, beginning in the 2022–23 season. Lindsey Ellis has been the team's coach in each of the program's four years of existence, having grown up in nearby Peoria and coming back to Arizona to start the program after a successful career at Miami University that included an ACHA National Championship in 2014. Big Surf
Big Surf was a waterpark located in Tempe, Arizona. Opened in 1969 and financed by the Clairol Company, it boasted the first wave pool in the United States. However Point Mallard Water Park had one first. It is located in Decatur, Alabama. The wave pool was designed by Phil Dexter. At a ceremony on August 17, 2013 the Waikiki Beach Wave pool was designated as an ASME Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmark. The recognition is for being the "first inland surfing facility in North America". The Big Surf Water park became the first amusement park or waterpark to receive such an ASME landmark status. Desert Financial Arena
Desert Financial Arena (formerly ASU Activity Center and Wells Fargo Arena) is a 14,198-seat multi-purpose arena located at 600 E Veterans Way in Tempe, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix. It sits immediately east of Sun Devil Stadium on the northern edge of the Tempe campus of Arizona State University (ASU). Constructed in the spring of 1974 as the ASU Activity Center and at the cost of $8 million, it is the home of men's basketball, women's basketball, and women's volleyball and former home of women's gymnastics and men's wrestling.
