Oceans Ate Alaska are a British metalcore band hailing from Birmingham formed in 2010. The band was signed to Fearless Records and are known for "uniting boundaries between multiple genres in modern metal" and for "fusing unpredictable polyrhythms and sporadic partnering of melodic and dissonant passages". Original vocalist, James Harrison came up with the band name; naming it after the 1958 Lituya Bay earthquake and megatsunami that swallowed one of Alaska’s gulfs. History Oceans Ate Alaska was founded in 2010 by University of Birmingham, Birmingham University's students James Harrison, James 'Jibs' Kennedy, Josh Salthouse, Alex Hurdley and Chris Turner. The band would go on to release their first single, "Taming Lions" on 4 August followed by their second single "Clocks" on the 26th both accompanied by a music video and being released through Great Escape Records. Currents (band)
Currents is an American metalcore band formed in Newtown, Connecticut in 2011 by former drummer Jeff Brown. After numerous line-up changes, they consist of singer Brian Wille, guitarists Ryan Castaldi and Chris Wiseman (also the founding guitarist of Shadow of Intent), bassist and backing vocalist Christian Pulgarin, and drummer Matt Young. Varials is an American metalcore band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, formed in October 2013. The band currently consists of guitarist Shane Lyons, bassist Mike Foley and drummer Sean Rauchut. History The band members, all from Philadelphia or surrounding towns, had been a part of the 2009 music scene in one way or another, realizing this years later after they all met through different means.
