Ocean Parkway (Brooklyn)
Ocean Parkway is a boulevard in the west-central portion of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. It is inventoried by the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) as New York State Route 908H (NY 908H), an unsigned reference route. Route description Ocean Parkway extends over a distance of about five miles (8 km), running almost north to south from Machate Circle at the southwestern corner of Prospect Park to the Atlantic Ocean waterfront at Brighton Beach. The NYSDOT designates the section south of Church Avenue as an unsigned reference route. Ocean Parkway begins at Machate Circle at the southern entrance of Prospect Park and travels westward before merging south into Prospect Expressway. After the expressway ends at Church Avenue, then passes through Windsor Terrace and what is present-day Kensington. Ocean Parkway (BMT Brighton Line)
The Ocean Parkway station is an express station on the New York City Subway's BMT Brighton Line. It is located at Brighton Beach Avenue and Ocean Parkway in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn. The station is served by the Q train at all times. History When the Ocean Parkway station opened on April 22, 1917, it was served only by a single-track shuttle that ran to Brighton Beach, which was the southern terminal for all trains on the Brighton Line. When the West Eighth Street–New York Aquarium station opened in 1919, all four tracks were extended west to serve the two-level station. The local tracks remained at the same elevation and connected to the lower level (which was also served by the IND Culver Line) while the express tracks rose up and connected to the upper level. As a result, all Brighton Line service was extended to Coney Island–Stillwell Avenue. It begins at the southern terminus of the Meadowbrook State Parkway and heads east across Jones Beach Island, intersecting the south end of the Wantagh State Parkway before ending just past the southern terminus of the Robert Moses Causeway.
