Obsession (Atomic Forest Album)
Atomic Forest was an Indian psychedelic and hard rock band from Mumbai, active in the early-1970s. They recorded a single album, ''Obsession '77''. Background Atomic Forest only recorded one album, which was not released until after the band had dissolved, in 1981. ''Obsession 77'' was re-released in January 2011 by Now-Again Records, a Los Angeles-based label. It caught the attention of collectors as it was the only psychedelic rock album that was ever produced in India. The group also featured in Abhimanyu Kukreja's rockumentary, ''Evolution of Indian Rock''. The band is also famously known for performing with English rock band Led Zeppelin. Members Madhukar C. Dhas, Madhukar Dhas joined the band in 1971. Also that year, Jazz musician Joe Alvarez played with the band at Blow-up in the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. The Taj Mahal Palace is a heritage, five-star, luxury hotel in the Colaba area of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, situated next to the Gateway of India. Indian Rock Music
Indian rock is a music genre in India that may incorporate elements of Indian music with rock music, and is often topically India-centric. While India is more often known for its ( northern and southern) classical music, filmi, Bollywood music, Indi-pop, and Bhangra, the Indian rock scene has also produced numerous bands and artists. Sharon Prabhakar (born 4 August 1955) is an Indian pop singer, theatre personality and public speaker. Personal life Prabhakar was born to a Punjabi father who was a public servant, and a Christian mother who was a music teacher. Along with her brother and sister, she had a mixed upbringing, growing up speaking both Punjabi and English. When she was in her twenties, she married Bryan Mascarenhas, though they later divorced.
