Obregón Pistol
The Obregón is a Mexican designed semi-automatic pistol designed in the mid-1930s by the mechanical engineer Alejandro Obregón. It uses the same .45 caliber ammunition as the Colt 1911 and it resembles the 1911 in overall appearance, frame size and weight. However it features a rotating barrel locking system. This system employs a diagonal cam on the rear of the barrel sliding against a diagonal receiver-mounted groove that rotates the barrel. This is like the Austro-Hungarian Steyr M1912 pistol, unlike the "swinging link and pin" of the Colt M1911 series. One of the Obregón's design simplifications is that the safety switch and the slide lock are a single unit. Less than 1,000 of these pistols were produced at the national armory in Mexico City between 1934 and 1938. It was not a sales success, nor was it commissioned by the Mexican government. Semi-automatic Pistol
A semi-automatic pistol is a type of repeating single-chamber handgun ( pistol) that automatically cycles its action to insert the subsequent cartridge into the chamber (self-loading), but requires manual actuation of the trigger to actually discharge the following shot. As a result, only one round of ammunition is fired each time the trigger is pulled, as the pistol's fire control group disconnects the trigger mechanism from the firing pin/ striker until the trigger has been released and reset. Additional terms sometimes used as synonyms for a semi-automatic pistol are self-loading pistol, autopistol, autoloading pistol, and automatic pistol (E.G.: Automatic Colt Pistol). Zaragoza Corla
In 1956, brothers ''José'' and ''Andrés'', Zaragoza founded the ''Zaragoza Arms Factory'' in Mexico City, near Mexico City International Airport. The first weapon made by this outfit was a single-shot rifle .22 caliber. Later, they started manufacturing the .22 caliber semiautomatic pistol Corla model, which was named in honor of two dealers who had the surnames Larios and Cordova. As for the brand logo, the letters H and Z correspond to "Hermanos Zaragoza". The Mondragón rifle refers to one of two rifle designs developed by Mexican artillery officer General Manuel Mondragón. These designs include the straight-pull bolt-action M1893 and M1894 rifles, and Mexico's first self-loading rifle, the M1908 - the first of the designs to see combat use. The .45 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) or .45 Auto (11.43×23mm) is a rimless straight-walled handgun cartridge designed by John Moses Browning in 1904, for use in his prototype Colt semi-automatic pistol.
