Obolon ( uk, Оболонь ) is a historical locality which includes a residential area (masyv), along with an industrial park within the Ukraine's capital Kyiv that is located on its northern side, in an eponymous city district - the Obolonskyi District (until 2001 – Minskyi District). In Ukrainian language the word ''obolon'' () means a 'low country near a river' (floodplain) or 'flood-meadows' ( uk, заплавні луки, links=no). As Obolon's land regularly used to flood by the Dnieper river there were Kyiv city's pasture and haymakings. Geography The suburb is located in the South of the Polesian Lowland, in the northern a part of Kyiv city's area. Sviatoshyn ( uk, Свято́шин, Svjatóshin, ; also or ) is a historical neighborhood and a suburb of Ukraine's capital Kyiv that is located on the western edge of the city area, in an eponymous municipality. Previously it was a dacha village (summer colony) in a pine grove which was included into the Kyiv city council area in 1919. Location The neighbourhood is located in the North-East of the Dnieper Upland, in the western a part of Kyiv city's area. The suburb is situated on both sides of Kyiv's prospect Peremohy along its western part. Obolon Raion
Obolonskyi District ( uk, Оболонський район, ''Obolons'kyi raion'') is an urban district of the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. Obolonskyi District encompasses territories far beyond of its historical neighborhood sharing the same name. It was formed on 3 March 1975 and initially called as Minskyi District. In 2001 it was renamed to its historical name. Its current population is 290,000 inhabitants. Overview During Soviet rule of Ukraine, Kyiv had 14 administrative districts. Obolon (Kyiv Metro)
Obolon ( uk, Оболонь, ) is a station on Kyiv Metro's Obolonsko–Teremkivska Line. The station was opened on 19 December 1980 in the southern part of the Obolon Raion (raion, district) of Kyiv. It was designed by T.A. Tselikovska, A.S. Krushynskyi, and A. Pratsiuk. The station was formerly known as ''Prospekt Korniichuka'' ( uk, Проспект Корнійчука) until 1990. The station is located shallow underground and consists of a central hall with columns. The walls along the tracks have been covered with yellow marble and decorated with two bronze works of art. Lights surround the columns, giving the station its light. The station is accessible by passenger tunnels; one leading to the Obolon Prospect, and the other — to Marshala Malynovskoho Street.
