Obolus
The obol ( grc-gre, , ''obolos'', also ὀβελός (''obelós''), ὀβελλός (''obellós''), ὀδελός (''odelós''). "nail, metal spit"; la, obolus) was a form of ancient Greek currency and weight. Currency Obols were used from early times. According to Plutarch they were originally spits of copper or bronze traded by weight, while six obols make a drachma or a handful, since that was as many as the hand could grasp. Heraklides of Pontus (died ca. 310 BC) is cited as having mentioned the obols of Heraion and also gives the etymology of ''obolos'' (the name of the coin) from ''obelos'' (the word for "spit, spike, nail"). Eastern Obolo
Eastern Obolo (or Obolo agan̄ Mbum-ura in the native Obolo language) is a Local Government Area (LGA) in southern Nigeria, with headquarters at Okoroete. It is a coastal local government area in Akwa-Ibom State under great tidal influence from the Bight of Bonny. Eastern Obolo LGA was mapped out of Ikot Abasi LGA by the Federal Government of Nigeria on 4th December, 1996 with over 30,000 residents across a total area of approximately 17,000 km². It comprises 16 villages, divided into two clans, namely Okoroete and Iko. It has ten political wards. All the villages in Eastern Obolo are of the Obolo ethnic group , there exist a common ancestral lineage which allows for peaceful coexistence and inter-relationship amongst them. Peter's Pence (or ''Denarii Sancti Petri'' and "Alms of St Peter") are donations or payments made directly to the Holy See of the Catholic Church. The practice began under the Saxons in England and spread through Europe. Both before and after the Norman conquest the practice varied by time and place; initially, it was done as a pious contribution, whereas later it was required by various rulers, and collected, more like a tax. Though formally discontinued in England at the time of the Reformation, a post-Reformation payment of uncertain characteristics is seen in some English manors into the 19th century. In 1871, Pope Pius IX formalized the practice of lay members of the church and "other persons of good will" providing financial support to the Roman See. Modern "Peter's Pence" proceeds are used by the Pope for philanthropic works throughout the world and for administrative costs of the Vatican state. Andoni People
The Obolo people (also called Andoni or Idoni) are an ethnic group in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. Obolo people are found in Rivers State and Akwa Ibom State. They have historical relations with the Oron people, Ohafia, Igbo Ogoloma, Ido, and Ibeno people, who are also from the Niger Delta. The Obolo people occupy the longest stretch of the Niger Delta mangroves belt, which also houses the largest oil and gas deposits in the Gulf of Guinea. History and origin Historically, there is little or fragmented documentation on the origin and migration of the Obolo. The earliest data on Obolo migration is from around 12th century BC. Mauro Iván Obolo (; born 28 September 1981) is a former Argentine footballer. Club career Obolo started his professional career with Vélez Sársfield. He made his flight top debut in the Argentine Primera on 27 April 1999 against Gimnasia de Jujuy. Obolo's first spell at Vélez lasted until June 2001. Subsequently, he was loaned to Belgrano where he had a successful run, followed by a short stint in Italy with Piacenza. The Apertura 2003 marked the returned of Obolo to "El Fortín". Pascale Obolo (born 7 January 1967) is a Cameroonian film director and artist. A graduate of the Conservatoire Libre du Cinéma Français in Paris University of Paris VIII she is noted for her feminist films documenting women in Hip Hop in the French suburbs and African musical culture. In 2005 she released her debut film, ''Calypso at Dirty Jim's'', a tribute to calypso and Trinidad, which won numerous awards in 2006 including the International Pan-African Film Festival of Cannes and African Diaspora Film Festival in New York. In 2008 she produced the short film ''La Femme invisible'' (''The Invisible Woman''). Her first full-length film was a documentary about Calypso Rose in 2011.
