Theater Rigiblick
Theater Rigiblick or Theatersaal Rigiblick is a theatre in the German-speaking Switzerland situated in Zürich-Oberstrass. Built in 1901 as the restaurant ''Rigiblick'', the theater houses mainly guest performances, focussed on the dance theater. The theatre as institution is owned by the government of the city of Zürich, and the building by the Zürcher Frauenverein (ZFV) cooperative. History The ''Rigiblick'' building was built near the upper terminus of the present Seilbahn Rigiblick to house a restaurant with terrace and a large hall. It quickly became a social meeting place and a popular destination. In 1914 the Zürcher Frauenverein (literally: Zürich Women's Association) bought the building complex, which remained until 1976 in its possession, and then went over to the city government of Zürich. The Funicular Rigiblick (german: Seilbahn Rigiblick) is a funicular railway in the north-east of the city of Zürich, Switzerland. It links a lower station served by Zürich tram routes 9 and 10 and Zürich trolleybus route 33, with an upper station at Rigiblick on the Zürichberg hill. The Rigiblick funicular is one of two funiculars within the city of Zürich, the other being the Polybahn funicular in the city centre.
