Obafemi Onashile
Obafemi Oluwole Onashile (born August 1964) is a Nigerian Quantity Surveyor, the founding partner of the Quantity Surveying firm Consol Associates located in Nigeria, Ghana and Rwanda. He is the past President of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS). He is the a past President of the African Institute of Quantity Surveyors. He is the President of the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN). Background Obafemi was born at Jericho Nursing Home, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria to a family that hails from Ogun State, southwest Nigeria. He grew up in Oke Ado, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. His father, Folarin Onashile, was a well read lawyer, one of the first of the profession to be trained in the United Kingdom, and he rose to be the chief judge of Ogun State High Court and his mother, Esther Olayide Onashile, was a business woman and building contractor. Nigerian Institute Of Quantity Surveyors
The Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) is the professional umbrella body for quantity surveyors in Nigeria. It is one of the two major bodies associated with the profession in the country. The other is Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN), which is the regulatory body of the quantity surveying profession and practice in Nigeria. It was established by Decree No. 31 of December 5, 1986, now CAP Q1 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (LFN) 2004. Obafemi Awolowo University
Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) is a federal government-owned university that is located in the ancient city of Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. The university was founded in 1961 and classes commenced in October 1962 as the University of Ife by the regional government of Western Nigeria, which was led by Samuel Ladoke Akintola. It was renamed "Obafemi Awolowo University" on 12 May 1987 in honour of Obafemi Awolowo (1909–1987), the first premier of the Western Region of Nigeria, whose idea the university was. The University of Lagos, popularly known as UNILAG, is a public research university located in Lagos, Nigeria and was founded in 1962. UNILAG is one of the first generation universities in Nigeria and is ranked among the top universities in the world in major education publications. National Youth Service Corps
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is a program set up by the Nigerian government during the military regime to involve Nigerian graduates in nation-building and the development of the country. There is no military conscription in Nigeria, but since 1973 graduates of universities and later polytechnics have been required to take part in the National Youth Service Corps program for one year. This is known as national service year. Ahmadu Ali served as the first Director-General of the NYSC until 1975. The incumbent Director-General is Mohammed Kaku Fadah.
