Carmarthen (, RP: ; cy, Caerfyrddin , "Merlin's fort" or "Sea-town fort") is the county town of Carmarthenshire and a community in Wales, lying on the River Towy. north of its estuary in Carmarthen Bay. Oaklands is an historic, American home that is located in West Whiteland Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. History and architectural features The original house was built in 1772, and is a two-story, three-bay, rectangular, stone structure. It has a major wing to the east, with an addition to that wing. The front of the wing has a two-story front porch with decorative iron supports. Oaklands Cemetery is a rural cemetery founded in 1854 in West Goshen Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. It is located at 1042 Pottstown Pike and is approximately in size. Description and history The Oaklands Cemetery was founded in response to the borough council's closure of graveyards within the borders of West Chester and the discontinuation of future burials allowed within it. The ordinance passed on July 21, 1851, and had an effective date of August 20, most likely in reaction to recent cholera epidemics. The Pennsylvania General Assembly passed and Governor William F. Johnston approved an act to incorporate the cemetery on April 14, 1851. Oaklands Mansion is an historic house museum located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, United States. Oaklands is on the National Register of Historic Places and is a local landmark known for its unique Italianate design. The plantation was caught in the middle of the Civil War and officers from both the Confederate and Union armies stayed in the mansion. Oaklands or Contee was a slave plantation owned by the Snowden family, and remains as a historic home surrounded by residential development. Description and history The house is a three-story Federal architecture manor of brick construction, and was built by Major Thomas Snowden and his wife Eliza Warfield from Bushy Park, Howard County. The estate extended westward into modern Howard County. Richard Snowden inherited it from his father. His oldest daughter Anne Lousia Snowden inherited the estate and married Capt. John Contee, for whom "Contee" station of the B&O railroad was named. In 1911, the estate was purchased by Charles R. Hoff and his wife who was a descendant of the Snowden family. Oaklands is an affluent suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa. It is located in Johannesburg Region E. It is a small suburb surrounded by the suburbs of Houghton Estate, Norwood, Orchards, The Gardens and Highlands North. History Oaklands came into existence in 1896. Oaklands, also known locally as Oaklands Castle, is a historic house on Oaklands Farm in southern Gardiner, Maine. The main house of this farm property is a stone Gothic Revival work from the early career of the noted 19th-century architect Richard Upjohn. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. Description and history Oaklands Farm is a property of more than which has been in the hands of the locally prominent Gardiner family (for whom the city is named) for centuries. The land was granted in the 18th century to Silvester Gardiner, one of the Kennebec Proprietors.
