Oak Hill Academy (Maryland)
The Maya Angelou Academy at New Beginnings, renamed from Oak Hill Academy in May 2009, is an alternative school operated by the non-profit See Forever Foundation which manages Maya Angelou Schools. Named after American poet and civil rights activist Maya Angelou, the school is located east of Laurel, Maryland in Anne Arundel County. It is at the New Beginnings Youth Development Center, the District of Columbia's secure facility for youth who are adjudicated as delinquent and committed to its Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS). The See Forever Foundation began management of the academy in June 2007 upon winning a three-year $12 million contract. Founding principal David Domenici is the son of former New Mexico senator Pete Domenici. Domenici subsequently led the Consortium for Educational Excellence in Secure Settings. Oak Hill Academy (Mississippi)
Oak Hill Academy is a private PK-12 school in West Point, Mississippi, the seat of Clay County, Mississippi. The school serves about 400 students. It was founded as a segregation academy in 1966. History Oak Hill was refused tax-exempt status by the IRS in the 1970s for refusal to execute a policy of non-discrimination. The school's policy was a matter of questioning at the Senate confirmation of Lyonel Thomas Senter Jr. as a federal judge. His children attended Oak Hill. In 1987, Oak Hill was still an all-white school, as described in ''Fyfe v. Curlee''. In 2016, the school had no black students registered. By 2021, the National Center for Education Statistics reported the school had 279 students, of whom two were Black and four Hispanic. Oak Hill Academy is a coeducational, nonsectarian private day school located in Lincroft, in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States, serving students in pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade. Oak Hill Academy was founded in September 1981 by educator Joseph A. Pacelli. The school is academically rigorous and boasts advanced courses in mathematics and Latin. Oak Hill has swimming as a mandatory part of the physical education program. As of the 2017–18 school year, the school had an enrollment of 296 students and 40.8 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 7.3:1.
