OJ Mariano
OJ Mariano (born 1979) is a Filipino people, Filipino singer and film/theater actor. He is the second runner-up of the second season of ABS-CBN's reality show, reality singing competition ''Star in a Million''. After the competition, he released an album under Star Records entitled ''One Dream Come True''. For his first album, he received Awit Awards' 2006 "Best New Male Recording Artist". He is previously performing as a singer in ABS-CBN's ''The Singing Bee (Philippine game show), The Singing Bee''. He then pursued the theater and acting field, and was featured in a number of local and international Musical productions and films. He received various nominations and received the Gawad Buhay Award for Best Male Lead in Musical in 2013. ''Search for the Star in a Million'' (formerly ''Star in a Million'' after two seasons) is a Philippine television program in ABS-CBN. The shows premise is almost the same to that of ''American Idol'', although the format is derived from GMA's ''Search for a Star'' and ABS-CBN's ''Star in a Million''. ''Star in a Million'' ''Star in a Million'' is a singing contest on ABS-CBN in the Philippines. Awit Awards
The Awit Awards are music awards in the Philippines given annually by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI) to recognize the outstanding achievements in the music industry. The word "Awit" means "song" literally in Filipino. The first awards were given in 1969 at a ceremony in Makati. After three awards ceremonies were held, the Awit Awards were discontinued in 1972. In 1988, PARI brought back the awards and today, the organization still handles these awards. History The idea for Awit Awards was conceived by Oskar "Oskee" Salazar, the Billboard correspondent for the Philippines at that time, in late 1968. The Singing Bee (Philippine Game Show)
''The Singing Bee'' is a Philippine karaoke game show premiered on April 21, 2008 on ABS-CBN. It is based on the American version of the same name. A combinination of karaoke singing and a spelling bee-style competition, this show features contestants trying to remember the lyrics to popular songs. In each episode, six contestants will be selected from the audience to play a series of games that test their knowledge of song lyrics. Contestants making an error forfeit their chance to get into the "musical chairs". Contestants not in a musical chair position when the round is over are eliminated. The grand prize is P1,000,000. The Company (stylized as The CompanY) is a Filipino vocal group since 1985. The current members are Moy Ortiz, Annie Quintos, Sweet Collado-Plantado and OJ Mariano.
