O. E. Hailey
Oscar E. Hailey (December 10, 1870 – July 5, 1958) was an American politician who served as the 16th and 18th lieutenant governor of Idaho, both during the administration of Governor H. C. Baldridge. Hailey was elected in 1926 along with Baldridge. He was succeeded as the Republican nominee in 1928 by W. B. Kinne, but returned to the position in October 1929 after Kinne died in office. Hailey also served in the Idaho Legislature. He was a member of the Idaho Senate from 1919 to 1926. The lieutenant governor of Idaho is a constitutional statewide elected office in the U.S. state of Idaho. According to the Idaho Constitution, the officeholder is elected to a four-year term. The current lieutenant governor of Idaho is Republican Janice McGeachin, who took office January 7, 2019. Powers and duties The power of the lieutenant governor of Idaho derives from Article IV, Sections 12 and 13 of the Idaho Constitution, which provides that the office is first in line of succession to the governor of Idaho. It also dictates that the lieutenant governor serves as the presiding officer of the Idaho Senate. The lieutenant governorship has been a constitutional office in Idaho since statehood in 1890. Weiser ( ) is a city in the rural western part of the U.S. state of Idaho and the county seat of Washington County. With its mild climate, the city supports farm, orchard, and livestock endeavors in the vicinity. The city sits at the confluence of the Weiser River with the great Snake River, which marks the border with Oregon. The population was 5,507 at the 2010 census.
