O'Higgins Braden
O'Higgins Braden was a Chilean football club based in the city of Rancagua. The club was founded on 1954 and merged between Instituto O'Higgins and Braden F.C.. Later, after won the Segunda División, the club merged in 1955 with América de Rancagua forming the current club O'Higgins. History In 1954, Instituto O'Higgins, competing in the Segunda División, decided to merge with the football team of the Braden Copper Company and together they founded the O'Higgins Braden. Thus, despite its short existence, the club participated in the Second Division championship in 1954 and played every inch of the top of the standings with América, also from Rancagua and archrival Instituto O'Higgins. Braden Copper Company
Braden Copper Company was an American company that controlled the El Teniente copper mine in Chile until 1967 when its copper holdings were nationalized. History Braden Copper Company was founded on 18 June 1904 by E.W. Nash, Barton Sewell, William Braden and other mining partners. Braden visited the mine during the winter of 1903-1904. Using capital of $625,000, the company purchased the mine and developed a mill at Sewell, Chile. Production started on 1 June 1906. Barton Sewell never visited Chile and was limited to participating in the business as an upper executive at the companies central offices in New York City. After E.W. Nash died in 1905, Braden turned to John Hays Hammond and Guggenex, owned by the Guggenheim brothers, for financing. Braden Mines Company was formed on 10 July 1909. Estadio El Teniente, also known as Estadio El Teniente-Codelco for sponsorship reasons, is a multi-purpose stadium in Rancagua, Chile. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium can fit 14,087 people and was built in 1945 with the name Braden Copper Company Stadium ''(Estadio Braden Copper Co.)''. Instituto O'Higgins is a private Catholic school located in the center of Rancagua, Chile. It is administered by the Marist Brothers. It was founded in 1915 by four Marist Brothers, Andrés, Donato, Cristobal and Salvador María. Originally the institute was exclusively for boys, but since year 2000, girls have been allowed as well. In 1925 the school created his own soccer team, the ''Club de Deportes Instituto O'Higgins'', that was merged in 1954 with the Braden Copper Company team, creating the O'Higgins Braden club. One year later, in 1955, O'Higgins Braden merged with América de Rancagua football club, forming the current Club Deportivo O'Higgins.
