Ottakarathevar Panneerselvam, popularly known as OPS (born 14 January 1951) is an Indian politician who served as the .Coordinator of AIADMK 6th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu from 6 December 2016 to 15 February 2017 and as the 2nd Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu from 21 August 2017 to 6 May 2021. As a finance minister, he has presented the Tamil Nadu State Budget 11 times. He was the former co-ordinator of the AIADMK political party and was a staunch aide of former chief minister of Tamil Nadu and AIADMK General Secretary J. Jayalalithaa. His first two terms as Chief Minister came when he replaced Jayalalithaa in the role, after she was forced to resign by the courts. His third term began following Jayalalithaa's death and ended two months later, Edappadi K. Palaniswami was selected as the Chief Minister. The chief minister of Tamil Nadu is the chief executive of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. In accordance with the Constitution of India, the governor is a state's ''de jure'' head, but ''de facto'' executive authority rests with the chief minister. Following elections to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, the  state's governor usually invites the party (or coalition) with a majority of seats to form the government. The governor appoints the chief minister, who is accountable to the assembly through his council of ministers. Given that he has the confidence of the assembly, the chief minister's term is for five years and is subject to no term limits. Since 1952, Tamil Nadu has had 12 chief ministers. The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (; AIADMK) is an Indian regional political party with great influence in the state of Tamil Nadu and the  union territory of Puducherry.
