The O'Leary Eagles were a Canadian Junior ice hockey club from O'Leary, Prince Edward Island. They were members of the Island Junior Hockey League and were 2002 Don Johnson Cup Maritime Junior B champions. History In their final year of operation, the O'Leary Eagles led the Island Junior Hockey League with a record of 25 wins, 3 losses, and 2 overtime losses. In the playoffs, they defeated the Kings County Sharks, Summerside Red Wings, and Sherwood Falcons to win the IJHL championship for the only time and for entry into the 2002 Don Johnson Cup. As host and champion in the Don Johnson Cup, the Eagles finished in first place overall in the round robin and received a berth into the tournament final. Strait Pirates
The Strait Pirates are a Junior B ice hockey team from Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia, Canada. The Pirates play at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre and are a member of the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League. The Pirates are the longest countiously running Junior B franchise in Canada. History In 1964 a group headed by Tiger Mackie got together to form a junior hockey club in Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia, in an attempt to create a tenant for the new Port Hawkesbury Arena, which began construction in 1963. The team was dubbed the Strait Pirates, and were accepted into the Cape Breton Junior Hockey League (CBJHL) the following year. For the 1966-67 season the Pirates actively recruited players from across Atlantic Canada and Quebec. The increased strength of the team led to them being kicked out of the CBJHL due to other teams being unable to compete. The Sackville Blazers are a Canadian Junior ice hockey team from Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia. The Blazers play in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League and are the only team in history to have won three consecutive Don Johnson Cups as Maritime Junior B Champions. The Windsor Royals are a defunct Canadian Junior ice hockey club from Windsor, Nova Scotia. They were members of the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League and were 1998, 2001, and 2008 Don Johnson Cup Maritime Junior B champions. History Founded in 1967 as a member of the Metro Valley Junior B Hockey League, the team became a Junior A team in 1977 but folded only two years later. They were the Metro Valley League's first ever champion in 1968. After a five-year hiatus, the Royals came back to help the Mainland Junior B Hockey League and since 1984 have been a prominent member of the league. The Island Junior Hockey League is a Junior "B" ice hockey league in Prince Edward Island, Canada, sanctioned by Hockey Canada. History Since being founded in 1996, the IJHL has been strictly a Junior "B" League—one tier below the Maritime Junior A Hockey League and two tiers below the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League which both draw from the same region. The IJHL shares its name with the former Junior "A" league that played in the same region, the Island Junior Hockey League. The Sherwood Metros (formerly the Sherwood Falcons) are a Canadian Junior C ice hockey team located in Sherwood, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
