Nørre Djurs Municipality
Until 1 January 2007 Nørre Djurs municipality ("Northern Djursland") was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in the former Aarhus County on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 237 km², and had a total population of 7.663 (2005). Its last mayor was Jens Peter Jellesen, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. The site of its municipal-council was the town of Glesborg. Other towns in the municipality were the beach towns of Bønnerup Strand, Fjellerup Strand, and Gjerrild Nordstrand, and the towns of Stokkebro and Voldby. Nørre Djurs municipality ceased to exist due to ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was combined with existing Grenaa and Rougsø municipalities, along with the eastern part of Sønderhald municipality to form the new Norddjurs municipality. Djursland
Djursland () is a 44 km × 33 km hilly lowland peninsula in Denmark at the entrance to the Baltic Sea, between Denmark and Sweden in Northern Europe. Djursland protrudes into the Kattegat sea, as part of the larger peninsula of Jutland, which itself extends from the Central European continent. Djursland comprises the two municipalities of Norddjurs and Syddjurs. The only larger city on Djursland is Grenå, but both Randers and Aarhus are close-by. Agriculture and fishing has been the mainstay of the rural culture here for millennia. There are many prehistoric relics of the past on Djursland, reaching back to the earliest cultures of the Nordic Stone Age. Norddjurs is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Region Midtjylland in Denmark. It covers an area of 723.15 km² and has a population of 37,839 (1 April 2014).
