Náutico Futebol Clube, commonly referred to as Náutico de Roraima, Náutico-RR or simply Náutico is a Brazilian professional club based in Boa Vista, Roraima founded on 22 December 1962. It competes in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série D, the fourth tier of Brazilian football, as well as in the Campeonato Roraimense, the top flight of the Roraima state football league. History The club was founded on December 22, 1962. Náutico finished as runners-up in the Campeonato Roraimense in 2010, and one of its players, named Robemar was one of the two top goal scorers of the competition. They competed in the Série D in 2012, when they were eliminated in the First Stage of the competition. Náutico won the Campeonato Roraimense after beating São Raimundo in the final. The Estádio Flamarion Vasconcelos, known as the Canarinho, is a football stadium located in the city of Boa Vista, Roraima, Brazil. The stadium is owned by the state of Roraima. The ground was opened on 6 September 1975 and was initially known as ''Estádio 13 de Setembro''. It was subsequently renamed after Flamarion Vasconcelos, a journalist from Roraima. In 2013, the Campeonato Brasileiro Série D, the fourth division of the Brazilian League, will be contested for the fifth time in history. It will be contested by 40 clubs, four of which will eventually qualify to the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C to be contested in 2014. Competition format The 40 teams are divided in eight groups of 5, playing within them in a double round-robin format. The two best ranked in each group at the end of 10 rounds will qualify to the Second Stage, which will be played in home-and-away system. Winners advance to Third Stage. The quarterfinal winners will be promoted to the Série C 2014. As there is no Série E, or fifth division, technically there will be no relegation. The Brazilian football league system is a series of interconnected leagues for football clubs in Brazil. It consists of several independent pyramids, which are the national pyramid and the states pyramids. As these pyramids are independent, clubs usually compete in a state pyramid and a national pyramid. Both the national pyramid and the states pyramids consist of several levels. The best placed teams in the states championships as well as the best clubs ranked in by the CBF compete in the Copa do Brasil. Structure There are two simultaneous and independent functioning pyramids in Brazil's football, the national pyramid and the states pyramids.
